Hello guys! It's me Zarna, back with another story of AsYa. My first story was so well appreciated and supported that I was given the idea by 'PreetK- to write this story. Needless to say that I was inspired by her to come up with this TS. Three shot! The TS kind of goes off of what the previous OS about Bunty and Chintu was. But you know, I hate waiting for writers to update because the stories get me so hooked! So for fun, I have typed out all the three parts and will update it daily. So in three days the story will be complete!
Hopefully you guys like the idea. Writing on this forum only for the second time so please excuse any mistakes/errors. By the ways chappals of size 9.5 can only be thrown at me. I don't like tomatoes but feel free to chuck cake if you like!

"Zoy'I can't find a bloody thing'Zo'what the hell is this?" Asad mumbled to himself holding up a pair of what seemed like plastic candy dishes.
He pulled away from the messy cupboard to examine the item closely with furrowed brows when Zoya walked in with his cup of coffee. "What are you doing with my bra?"
Instantly Asad held the "bra" at an arms length. The put the other arm behind his back to assume his famous Mr. Khan pose all the while scrunching his nose. "This is a BRA?!"
"Well of course it is. It's meant to be backless. Or do you not remember taking it off for me last'"
"Zoya'" Asad warned her. He turned around and put the bra back where it was meant to be. He blushed secretly as the thoughts of their honeymoon popped into his mind. Only a month ago they had returned from Verona. Zoya had insisted that he take her there, the birthplace and setting of Romeo and Juilet. He had initially rolled his eyes at her foolishness but then gave in. There was never a demand of Zoya's that he wanted to go unfulfilled. He wanted to spoil her.
"Alright Bunty. Can you please just tell me where my watch is? And'ZOYA. I swear to god, what have you done to my wardrobe?" He had begun to rummage through the cupboard for his watch when his hand landed on an old slice of Pizza.
Zoya bit her tongue. She silently tiptoed behind the fuming Asad and wrapped her hands around his waist. She had to stand on the tips of her toes to place her chin on his shoulder. "Sorry Chintu. I forgot. It won't happen again." She pecked the side of his neck sending goosebumps through out Asad's body.
Asad put his hands on top of hers. "well this is an awkward position. Isn't the man supposed to be spooning the woman?" Asad thought to himself. Well nothing about their relationship was normal anyway he concluded. With a huff he resigned himself and turned around. He snuck his hands around his wife's waist and gave her support to lean on as she was still standing on the tips of her toes. "Please Bunty, I just need my watch. I'm running late now. Please'just'my watch."
Zoya felt a weight drop into her heart. Her husband had never once said no to any of her demands. But she felt for the first time that she might have taken advantage of him. The project he was working on was very dear to his heart. Dilshad Constructions was teaming up with an investor from Dubai to build a boarding school for women education. She was helping Asad come up with ideas and gave him insight into what the school would require but ultimately, it was Asad who was doing the majority of the heavy lifting. For the first time since their honeymoon she saw a weary look on her husband's face. He was dead tired.
"Asad'" Zoya purred. There was an instant smile that was etched on Asad's face when he heard his name from Zoya's mouth. It brought up his spirits the way no cup of coffee could. Zoya reached down and broke out of his grip. She grabbed his left hand and held it up for him to see.
The couple both looked at the watch on Asad's arm and looked up at each other. After a minute of staring they burst out laughing. After minutes of hollering into tears, the happy couple was interrupted by Asad's buzzing phone. With a swift peck on Zoya's cheek he was out the door.
Zoya smiled and looked around the room. She tied up her hair and got to work. Asad had done so much for her. It was time that her husband came back to a clean room.
July 14, 2014
She had tried. And that was enough for him. Sure his room wasn't as neat as he would have liked it to be but it was eons cleaner than it had been a week ago. The cleaner room had also given him a peace of him. He smiled at the mess that lay in his cupboard a week ago as he put on his watch. He snapped the clasp and was about to turn around when'
'thud! He was pushed up against the cupboard.
A pair of soft lips pressed up against his.
Then he felt his wife press up against him.
His eyes were bulging out of their sockets, as he was still confused as to what had just happened. He felt zoya deepen the kiss and put her arms around his neck. Before he could even respond fully to the kiss she pulled away leaving an astonished asad still pressed up against the door of the cupboard.
Zoya took a couple of steps back smiling mischievously. She winked at him and bit a side of her lip seductively. She continued to back up. Asad was slowly regaining consciousness and realized that his extremely bashful wife had just planted a big one on him.
"Who'*cough*'that was'" He stood for a loss of words.
"Asad beta'there is a phone from your office. They said that you were meant to be in for a meeting thirty minutes ago." Dilshad entered the couple's room carrying fresh laundry.
Asad stood there with his mouth agape. His aami smacked him a little on the arm. "Hello! Earth to Asad. Come on beta, you will be late!"
Asad nodded, still unable to speak, and began walking out of the room as Zoya and Dilshad walked him to the front door. Once outside he turned around to give one last look at his waving mother and wife. Zoya was hugging Dilshad from behind and she winked at him. Asad's jaw dropped. She blew him a kiss and he walked straight into the trunk of his car.
"Oh my god! Asad. Please be careful! Watch where you are going! Where is your mind these days?" Dilshad chided him as Zoya struggled to stifle her giggles.
"Who'Aami'" He began but stopped at the annoyed look on his mother's face. Dilshad hated with Asad stammered like this. He cursed his fate and got in the car. What had gotten into Zoya! She was never this flirtatious. He was immersed in his thoughts throughout the entire drive to the office. As he parked the car he promised that whatever had gotten into Zoya was enough for him to teach her a lesson about toying with one's husband. The lesson though, he ruefully thought, would have to wait till tonight when they were in the privacy of their own room.

Asad held onto all the boxes for dear life. One mistake and all the ladies of his house would have his head. He tiptoed precariously over the hoards of people, each giving him a scathing look. He looked around apologetically to all those he was disturbing. But what could he do? He was given a demand and he had to fulfill it! No longer did he feel like Asad Ahmed Khan, the protector of his family. He felt as if he was another Asad Ahmed Khan, a whipped brother, a fearful son, and his wife's servant. He smiled at how much Zoya had changed him. Normally he wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this. Much less at night. Much less with his sister and mother. But he didn't have the heart to say no to the three of them. He walked carefully towards his picturesque family.
"Pop corn without butter, Nachos, and Cadbury for Najma." He said as he handed her sister her goodies.
"Samosas and a diet coke for Aami." He passed his mother her snacks.
"A giant popcorn with butter, extra salt, diet coke, and Cadbury with almonds for Zoya." He handed his eager wife the box of chocolates and settled down next to her. He looked at Aami on the other side of Zoya and Najma to his left to make sure all three were comfortable.
The lights of the theater dimmed as the movie began. Asad couldn't recall the last time he had been to a movie. He smiled as he put his arm around his wife.
"Thank you'" he whispered in her ear.
"That thank you will change into I hate you really soon Chintu."
"Why?"
"Because Bunty is about to go ape shit over Bunny!"
"Who the hell is Bunny?" Asad wondered. His questions were soon answered as Ranbir Kapoor came on the screen dancing with Madhuri.
He heard all three women sigh at the same time. Shocked that his Aami would blush over an actor he begrudgingly took some popcorn and settled in for a night filled with "Ohhhss and Ahhhss" from the crazy women in his family.
July 28th 2014
Asad chucked his bag and tie away on the couch. He couldn't care less where they landed ' that's how tired he was. The dinner with the clients from Dubai had lead into a debate over which engineer to hire for the school. It was 1am and Asad was tired. He took off his shirt and unbelted his trousers and let them fall on the ground.
He continued to walk towards his bed leaving a trail of shoes and socks. He climbed into bed in his boxers and instantly wrapped his right hand around Zoya. He pulled her closer to him in a swift motion causing her to wake up. He let her kiss him and wrap herself around his clad body before both fell into a deep sleep.
August 4, 2014
Zoya ran to the bathroom. What was wrong with her? She put her head down over the sink and that was it. That is when she had lost control. Tears streamed down her face. She didn't like this feeling. Whatever it was. She continued to pour out the contents of her stomach into the sink. She was sick because she had cried. Or was it the other way around? She didn't know what had gone wrong. But she needed to fix it.
There was knock on the door of the bathroom. Zoya quickly splashed water on her face and gargled. She opened the door to a very worried Dilshad. She hugged her mother and broke down.
Dilshad was unable to bear the extent of Zoya's weight on her and the pair collapsed on the floor with Zoya heaving. Dilshad understood. She patted her hair and calmed her down. But silent tears still emerged from Zoya's eyes.
Najma who had returned from college went around looking for her mother and best friend. She found the pair hugging, both crying silent tears in her brothers bathroom. She knelt down to examine the pair with questioning eyes when her eyes fell on the state of the bathroom.
She opened her mouth to scream when Dilshad shot her a warning look. A confused Najma bent down and consoled Zoya who hugged her. Dilshad shifted her weight to hug both her daughters.
No words needed to be said. Dilshad and Najma had understood what Asad had missed. Zoya didn't need to say anything to either of the two yet they both understood. This was the extent of the bond the women had come to share. They had spent more time with each other than Asad had; because they were always home together.
As both of Dilshad's daughters' cried silent tears on her shoulder Dilshad mustered up a long lost courage from her heart, the courage that had kept her going when Rashid had left her.
She spoke softly but sternly. "You have a mother Zoya. You have me. You will not become your mother. You are not your father. You are Zoya Asad Khan. My Son isn't Rashid. You both are my children. And my children are more than capable of handling this situation. My children are not weak."
That was all Zoya needed to hear to face this head on.
August 11, 2014
Zoya clasped Najma's hand tightly. The past week she had put on a front, lied to her husband, been scared out of her mind, but all the while had found the strength to accept her fate. She would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't scared. She was scared out of her mind. It was times like this she wished her mother had been alive. She had so many questions. A gentle hand on she shoulder reminded her that she did indeed have a mother.
"Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan?" the clerk called. Zoya stood up with a newfound strength and zeal. Najma and Dilshad walked into the room after her, hoping whatever fate had decided, Allah would give them the strength to endure it.
August 18, 2014
"I have to talk to Zoya. Enough is enough. I gave her space like Aami told me to but I can't ignore the fact that she has been lying to me for weeks. Hell she can't even deny that she has been lying to me. I can read it straight on her face." Asad thought on his way home from work. All day he wasn't able to focus on work. Zoya had slept in and missed breakfast again this morning. The past few weeks had been hell for him. He knew there was something wrong with her, something she wasn't telling him. She disappeared mysteriously for hours on end. All she did was sleep and drink water. Why was she so thirsty?
Almonds. Why was she eating so many almonds? She didn't even let asad get intimate with her for the past few weeks. Had he done something? He recalled Zoya crying one day when he had gotten back from work. Something was wrong and he had to find out what. His anger got the best of him as he parked his car outside the Khan mansion.
He burst open the door to his house to find it completely dark. THIS IS WHAT HE MEANT! Zoya had disappeared again! Taking his aami and his sister with her again. Where were they going? Were they in some kind of trouble? Had tanveer'?
He stopped cold. That must be it. There was only one time in his life where he had seen Zoya disheveled and that was because of his lying cheating friend. He was sure of it. Tanveer was back.
He walked into his room in the darkness and was met with a roar and a blinding light.
'SURPRISE!"
His sister, wife, and mother jumped up at him, each wearing a silly party hat. They threw confetti at him as he looked around in confusion.
"What the hell is going on?"
The women exchanged surprised glances. Najma finally broke the silence, "Did you forget your own birthday Bhaijan?"
His birthday. That was today. Asad blinked.
So this is what they have been up to! He smiled as his eyes threatened to overflow with tears. He looked around the room and saw a big chocolate cake, lights all around the room. For once the room looked tidy as a banner hung over it. There were a few presents on the couch. Suddenly there was a boot that smeared his couch with mud. He looked up and saw his brother Ayaan enter the room. He casually chucked a wrapped box at this bhaijan, "Happy Birthday Bhai." He turned around to help Nikhut and Nizat into the room followed by Humeria. The three girls took turns to hug their brother while placing their gifts on the couch.
Asad turned around and saw the seven most important people in his life chat excitedly while his wife brought him his birthday cake lit with a single candle. He looked at her loving face in the glow of the candlelight. She smiled at him.
"Make a wish Bunty." She told him as he was about to blow out his candle. The rest of his family sang happy birthday asad.
What more could he want? He had the perfect family right here. There was no wish in his life that hadn't already come true. The people that went to extreme lengths to give him the best surprise of his life. As he blew out the candle as his gaze met the banner above the room.
As he read he froze with fear. He looked at Zoya who beamed. He shifted his gaze back to the banner. The singing in the room stopped.
"Happy. Birthday." He read each word out loud carefully, "Soon. To. Be. Papa."
"Finally. The Man can read!" Ayaan joked. His sisters shouted simultaneously congrats.
Asad was still frozen in confusion. So this party wasn't the real thing being hidden from him. He was going to be a dad!
Zoya understood Her husband's plight and spoke softly. "We thought this would be the best way to tell the best son, brother, and husband in the world that in a few months he will be the best father in the world."
"How do you know? I mean how did this happen?"
"I think Bhaijan needs to go back to school and learn 10th grade biology." Najma joked.
"I think it is self explanatory how it happened!" Zoya fumed.
"But what if I'm not? What if I'm not the best father in the world."
"ALLAH MIYAN!" Zoya screamed in exasperation. "you are right. I don't know. I don't know about anything. But then again, we didn't know what we were doing when we got married either. But we'll figure it out."
"But we just got married'"
"Oh really, I didn't know."
"It's so soon."
"You're telling me."
"Zoya'"
"Asad please. Stop talking. You know when I found out I freaked out? But Aami told me something. We are her children. And we are not weak. Allah has decided we are ready. So he alone will give us the strength to endure."
"Zoya'"
"WHAT ASAD?!" ZOya screamed as the rest of the family tried to continue to stifle their laughter.
"I love you." He hugged his wife wholeheartedly forgetting that his family was watching and hooting.
Now, he had everything he ever wanted.
Now, his family was perfect.
August 15, 2014
"Asad'"
"Yeah?"
"she's the size of a raspberry."
"What is?"
"Your brain."
"what are you talking about Zoya?"
Asad looked up from the paper he was reading and looked up at Zoya who was carrying his cup of coffee and crying. Perplexed he stood up and carried her into his arms. He carried her into their bedroom and put her on the bed. She burst out crying, sobbing all over his shirt.
He was utterly confused. What had he done? Was she rethinking the pregnancy?
"Out into'.*sobs*'.and'.she's so tiny'"
"Zoya, please calm down. Tell me what's wrong?"
"OUR BABY IS THE SIZE OF A RASPBERRY!!" Zoya cried even louder. A worried Dilshad and Najma came running to the door. They met the eyes of a very shocked and confused Asad. He asked for help but Dilshad shook her head and smiled at the doorway as Najma held onto her aami to stifle her laughter.
"Is that good?!" Asad tried to help.
Apparently that was the wrong thing to say because Zoya stood up fuming. "YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PREGNANCY DO YOU. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU. IF I ASK YOU HOW MANY RUNS SACHIN HAS MADE IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE YOU CAN TELL ME LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND BUT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE SIZE OF OUR BABY!"
"well zoya, you are just barely only 8 weeks along. Doesn't that mean it's really tiny?"
"TINY! IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE? TINY. ASAD AHMED KHAN. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ON GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS."
"but zoya i don't really know anything about this stuff." He admitted lamely as he blushed and looked longingly at his mother and sister for help. They both continued to stand at the doorway and let Asad endure the wrath of Zoya.
Zoya just cried harder.
"okay, how about this. From today onwards, you and me are going to tackle this together. I haven't don't this before, and neither have you right?" Asad tried to rationalize with Zoya. She nodded wiping her tears with the back of her hand. He held her other hand and gently guided her back onto the bed. He held her by the shoulders. "I want to be in this with you. I'm sorry that I haven't been. But from now on. It'll be a team effort okay?"
Zoya nodded. Dilshad and Najma finally intervened and sat on both sides of Zoya. "And we're here to help."
"And I think, that it's really cute that our baby is the size of a raspberry. She'll be the cutest raspberry in the world!" Asad smiled trying to pacify Zoya.
Finally he saw the dimpled grin he had been waiting for.
"She? Does that mean it's a girl?" Najma asked.
"I'm hoping it is." Zoya answered truthfully.
"Oh a granddaughter! How exciting!" Dilshad said.
"Just what I need. Another crazy woman in my life." Asad mumbled.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Najma, Dilshad, and ZOya screamed simultaneously.
"Nothing. Nothing at all." Asad got up and looked at zoya questioningly, almost as if asking her permission to go to work. She blinked a yes. He pecked each of the three women's foreheads and ran out of the house before he endured any more hormonal tantrums.
"I have got to pick up some books on my way home." Asad thought to himself as he started the car.
August 22, 2014
Zoya went to go pee again. Asad watched her out of the corner of his eye. That was the third time since dinner. He got back to his book What To Expect When You Are Expecting and read, "9 weeks ' schedule a pre-natal visit if not already done so."
Before Zoya could get back, he picked up his cell phone and dialed Prasad's number. "Prasad I need you to schedule a meeting with Dr. Patel. No, Dr. Zarna Patel. The famous Ob/Gyn. Yes I know you are an architect. As soon as possible. And Prasad'Thank you."
Asad ended the call and placed his hand on the bridge of his nose. He heard Zoya puking out her dinner in the bathroom.
"Why did they call it morning sickness if it happens 24/7?" He thought ruefully as he walked to the bathroom with lemonade for his wife.
August 29, 2014
"Remember Zoya, that you will only be barely be able to hear the baby's heart beat. So I think we should just focus on the basics. I read that we should just inquire if the baby is the right size. Also, let's ask for a copy of your vitals. To keep track. I think it's really a good idea that we track how you are doing ourselves too. To make sure that the Doctor doesn't over look this. Although I don't think we need to worry, Dr. Patel is the best OB/GYN I could find. I think it's best and smart that we opted for an OB because you never know what will happen. Of course, nothing will happen. Don't worry Zoya. Nothing will happen."
Zoya smiled as she looked at the babbling Chintu beside her. He was driving at barely 30 miles an hour. He was afraid that he would encounter something unexpected on the road and he didn't want to harm the baby. Over the last two weeks she had seen her husband become a protective father. Even though the baby wasn't born Asad now was protecting the child as well as Zoya with all his might. This meant that Zoya was receiving double the attention she normally would. Not that she was complaining. She was frankly scared out of her mind about the pregnancy. She hadn't managed to tell Asad all this, he was scared enough for the both of them.
Asad grit his teeth as he parked the car. He was beyond terrified. There was so much he wanted to tell Zoya. So much that he needed to tell her. How he was afraid. He wasn't sure. He opened the door for Zoya and helped her climb out. He held her hand firmly as they walked into the clinic.
"Mr. and Mrs. Khan." Asad informed the clerk as Zoya took a seat. She looked around the room. The other mothers where huge! Her eyes bulged and she looked down to see her own tummy. Was she going to be that huge one day? Well, she knew that she would be getting big soon enough but this was a bit too soon? Was it not?
"Well how soon do you want it to be ZOya? It's a baby. It won't grow according to your needs. It has a mind of it's own!" She thought to herself as Asad joined her taking a seat next to hers.
Asad looked around the room and saw the husbands of the wifes smile excitedly towards their wives. How could they be so excited? Why wasn't he excited. "Because after all I am Rashid Ahmed Khan's son." He thought. This meant that there was a high likely hood of him being the same ignorant father. He wasn't sure what type of father he would be. He wasn't sure what a father's love was, and if he wasn't sure what it was how was he supposed to provide it? He had poured over books upon books since Zoya's pregnancy announcement. However, he didn't know what would happen once the baby came. What if he hurt it? Dropped it? The babies in the pictures looked so tiny. As thick as his bicep maybe, if not smaller. He could easily hurt the baby.
Asad Ahmed Khan was worried. But he didn't let it show when he looked reassuringly over to his wife.
ZOya wasn't sure what a mother's love was meant to be. She didn't even have a mother. What was a mother supposed to do anyway? She had always just fended for herself. She had grown up not needing a mother. That didn't mean that she didn't want to be a mother, she just didn't know how to be one. What if something happens to the baby. What is she supposed to do then? What if she does something to hurt the baby? She had no idea what she was doing up until this point. What if something went horribly wrong?
The couple was broken out of their reveres to the sound of their name. "Mr. and Mrs. Khan, please follow me."
They got up hand in hand and followed the clerk into the check up room. "Mrs. Khan please change into the robe and have a seat the doctor will be with you shortly."
Zoya hesitantly picked up the robe and headed for the bathroom as Asad nervously paced the room. Zoya got out of the bathroom in her gown and stared at Asad who gave her a piercing gaze back. She looked beautiful even in the horrible gown. A glow about her. A mother's glow shone through her skin and hair. She was even more beautiful than he could ever imagine.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Khan. My name is Dr. Patel and I'll be the doctor getting you through your delivery." Dr. Patel strode into the room interrupting the couple's private moment.
"Mrs. Khan, please have a seat!" As Dr. Patel watched Mrs. Khan sit on the examination table, she understood what was going on. "Okay, first of all please everyone take a deep breath in." The couple looked back at her quizzically. They thought she had lost her mind. "Please, just trust me. Take a deep breath in. And a deep breath out!" The couple obliged and both instantly felt a little at easy. "Now, from what I gather, this is your first pregnancy. And you two are relatively newly married. Yes?" Mrs. Khan nodded.
"So, let me be the first to tell you, it is okay to be scared out of your minds. So before we proceed, I would like for you to admit to each other if you are scared."
Zoya looked at Asad who returned her gaze.
"I don't know how to be a mother or if I'll be a good mother."
"I don't know how to be a father or if I'll be a good father."
They both spoke at the same time.
"Are you kidding me? You'll be a great father."
"Are you kidding me? You'll be a great mother."
They spoke again at the same time
"You are not your father asad."
"You are noth your mother zoya."
They spoke again at the same time.
Dr. Patel stood transfixed, staring at the couple in front of her. They were so much in sync with each other's inner thoughts. Then the strangest thing happen, they both burst out laughing. They hugged each other. "Bunty and Chintu best Jodi hai, dekho kitne fatoose (scaredy cats) hai." They both joked.
Dr. Patel smiled at their private joke.
Finally the checkup proceeded as normal. "Now, Mrs. Khan, I have to ask if you have given any thought to how you want to proceed with the birth? A natural birth, epidurals, C-section?"
Zoya held Asad's hand for comfort, "Natural. But can I have the epidural on standby if I change my mind?"
Asad, " Why would you change your mind?"
Zoya, " I'm allowed to change my mind. Since i am the one carrying the baby, i get to decide." She was fuming.
Dr. Patel decided to diffuse the looming hormonal outburst by changing the subject. "Okay Mrs. Khan. That's great to hear. Now, the urine sample we collected will yield results and we can talk about them next week. Now, the blood test will also be back then. Now, I think your pregnancy can be termed normal. Now if you are ready we can begin with the ultrasound to see how your baby is doing!"
Zoya leaned back nervously as her gown was lifted to reveal a toned belly, which would soon be expanding.
Asad sat next to her on the chair and held her had. His eyes on her. She was his first priority now.
"this will feel a little cold," Warned Dr. Patel as she squirted the gel on Zoya's stomach. Zoya winced a bit but was soon distracted by the monitor. There was tiny little jelly bean like thing in there. Was that it? Her child? The proof of her and asad's love? It was so tiny. How can something that tiny make her feel so complete?
"that's my baby." She squeezed Asad's hands and instant tears flowed from her eyes. She heard the weird heart beat and that's when she knew. Even though she didn't know what it was like to have a mother's love, she would do everything in her power to make sure that the baby, her baby would have all the love in the world. She would work to give her child everything she didn't have and more. She didn't care at that point that she didn't know how to be a mother. She was up for the challenge. And after the longest time, she felt like the old Zoya Khan, one that had gotten lost ever since her meltdown in the bathroom.
-x-
Asad heard her gasp. He closed his eyes. Afraid to look at the monitor. But when he did look, what he saw stole his breath away. Instant love. Instant attachment. That's what Asad felt when he looked at his child. He was in love with his child. How is that even possible? Even with Zoya it took months for him to fall in love and admit that he was in love with her. But this little person had instantly hooked him in a spell. Then he heard it. The weird heart beat. He closed his eyes as a tear escaped his eye. The heart beat managed to etch a permanent hold in his brain, heart, and soul. His child. His child would have a father, Asad decided, that would devote his entire life to protecting and providing for him or her. Even if he didn't know what that responsibility entailed. He couldn't wait to find out. Because for the first time since he had found out about Zoya's pregnancy, he was excited to meet his child in a few months. He couldn't wait to be a father.
The weird heart beat echoed through the room as Dr. Patel furrowed her eyebrows. Then relaxed.
"Mrs. Khan, You are about 10 weeks along. Safe to say, you are ending your first trimester soon. Your babies seem to be healthy and fine. Soon we will call you in for another ultrasound. We will monitor your pregnancy closely. There seems to be nothing to worry about."
Zoya stood up as the lights flipped on and the gel was wiped off of her. She got dressed and came out of the bathroom. Instantly she felt Asad's arms around her. Oh how she had missed his embrace. It seemed that the old Asd was back. The couple didn't speak a word but stood there taking each other in as they both silently hugged and cried together.
"Don't worry Bunty, we can do this." Asad murmured into her shoulder.
"I know Chintu," Zoya replied. They broke apart and looked at each other's crying faces and laughed. They laughed because they were back the old Asad and ZOya were back.
Suddenly their laughs subsided.
Both of them blinked away their tears and stood in confusion.
Unable to speak they turned to Dr. Patel who nonchalantly stood in the corner of the room.
She was smiling.
They looked at each other again.
"Did'" Zoya began pointing to Dr. Patel
"No'" Asad said
Zoya took her other hand and pointed the other one to Asad. "That's'"
"But that's'" Asad stammered.
Dr. Patel burst out laughing at the lunatic couple in front of her.
Asad and Zoya stood there with their mouths agape.
They both turned towards Dr. Patel and asked at the same time, "DID YOU SAY BABIES?!"
