Apurva Agnihotri is still known as Armaan sir but he's hoping to change that soon.
Considering that his role of a boss with a secretary in love with him is quite similiar to that of Armaan Suri in Sony's Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, did he not feel that there would be comparisons? "Well, there's been a conscious effort from our side to not make me look or sound like Armaan Suri. I also know that I'll never be able to erase Armaan sir out of people's minds," he admits candidly. As for the boss-secretary relationship, Apurva has this to say, "I guess the bosssecretary relationship is the same everywhere. Bosses are known to have a soft spot for their secretaries," he jokes. But on a more serious note, he thinks it's unfair to compare Kaajjal with Jassi. "Kaajjal is more independent than Jassi. And there have been other serials based on the boss-secretary relationship," he avers.
Apurva started his journey in acting from the film Pardes and then turned to television. But considering that many of his fellow actors are making a comeback to films, will Apurva too follow suit? "I have no mental barriers about films being bigger than TV. For me, it could be a street play but it has to excite me. I'm a typical Sagittarian that way. I have to feel the rush," he adds. At the moment though, Apurva says that he's concentrating only on Kaajjal. "My space is very important for me. I like to monitor my growth as an actor and that can only be done if one is not overworked," he says.
Now that wife Shilpa is also quite busy with her shows, how much time is he able to spend with her? "These days, we both are able to meet only after work for a couple of hours. But we'll be taking a break soon to go out somewhere and come back rejuvenated," he says. So is he planning to extend his family? "At the moment, my family is my mother, my wife and Kaajjal," he says before laughing, "I mean the serial!" But on a more serious note, he says that they will plan a baby in a year or so. And will he make a good father? "I'll make a fantastic dad!" he laughs.
