Punjabi film industry is seeing an unprecedented growth these days. DDLJ (Din Dehadey Lai Jaange) is one such wholesome entertainer where the focus is not just on the 'One Line Punches' to engage the audiences, as we have seen in so many movies recently, which are low on content, and are rejected by the audiences.

The movie is being produced by 'Asha Creative & Productions' and 'Movie Kalling Productions' and it is being directed by thedirector duo 'Honney ' Rommey', who made countless Punjabi Music Videos before taking up film direction and made their debut as writer and directors' with an independent ' parallel production of a well-received Hindi film 'Umang'.
The story is by Honeey Singh and Anutej Singh and the screenplay is written by Anutej Singh, who recently returned from USA after studding film ' direction and writing at University of Southern California, and the dialogues are written by the very talented Manoj Sabharwal, one of the main writers of huge television hits as 'Comedy Circus' and 'Comedy Nights with Kapil', and Honeey Singh as well.
The music is provided by Tarun Rishi, who has done tons of Punjabi music albums, and the songs will be sung by such known artists as Master Salim, Roshan Prince, Shahid Malaya, Kamal Khan and Miss Pooja and or other famous Punjabi singers
The director of photography is very experienced, Rajeev Shrivastav, who started his career from 'Tum Bin' and 'Vastav', and worked on big movie projects like 'Ra One', 'Dhamaal' etc. to name a few. He is one of the main members of Anubhav Sinha's core team. Most recently he worked as the cinematographer of 'Chatur Singh Two Star'
The star cast includes Gurmeet Choudhary, who is well known name in almost every household with such hit TV shows as 'Ramayan', 'Geet ' Hui Sabse Parayi', 'Punar Vivah', and not to mention that he was the winner of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5', where he has shined as performer and entertained the audiences all over. The female lead is Sapna Thakur, who is a famous model and has done couple of films as well. The supporting cast includes Jatinder Suri and Rajiv Mehra, both from 'Comedy Circus' and Comedy Nights with Kapil' fame, Sanjeev Attri from 'Hasde Hasande Ravo' fame, who also worked in Hollywood production of 'West is West', the sequel to uber famous 'East is East' with Jimmy Mistry and Om Puri, and Punjabi comedian Kake Shah, as well as newcomer Satnam Bhullar, who has been a famous model as well. And above all, famous Bollywood Character artist Ranjeet, the name itself requiring no introduction, as he has done over 200 films in Bollywood with career spanning more than 4 decades.
First schedule of the movie is to be shot in and around Chandigarh from 25th of this month and the second and final schedule is to be held in and around Manali and Leh and Ladakh commencing on later part of Aug and early September
Duo Director of the DDLJ, Honney and Rommey said 'What we are trying to do is tell a good story with a good narrative and not on over the top, loud, punch after punch comedy, but comedic relief is provided by situations that arise in the story and what the script really demands, so that we can entertain audiences across generations, where people can go to cinema and enjoy a good, clean film with their families. It is our tribute to Yash Chopra ji, the king of wholesome family entertainment in the Bollywood film industry for more than 5 decades. And if we are lucky enough, our DDLJ could be 'Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' of Punjabi film industry, rest is up to the audience, as we all know, audience today is smart, audience today is also unforgiving, you really cannot fool them, Period.'

Raj, Simran and a title DDLJ'Punjabi film Din Dehadey Lai Jaange shares too many similarities with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, except for the cast that has television hunk Gurmeet Choudhary as the lead and Bollywood baddie Ranjeet as the girl's father
Mona

Raj meets Simran again! Only this pair speaks in Punjabi. Din Dehadey Lai Jaange (DDLJ) is ostensibly a tribute to Yash Raj's iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge!

In Chandigarh, the cast and crew of the movie talk about this romantic comedy that's slated for release later this year. Among all, it is Ranjeet, the bad man of Bollywood, who commands most attention and keeps us regaled with the constant comparison between the past and the present.

Punjabi by choice

While people can't have enough of Ranjeet, the veteran actor guides them gently to the young lead pair of the film, Gurmeet Choudhary and Sapna Thakur. The TV star Gurrmeet is Punjab bound in a big way. Apart from this DDLJ, he is also doing another Punjabi film Yaar Mera Rabb Warga. What made him opt for Punjabi films?

"I played a Punjabi in Geet Hui Sabse Paraayi and for the last three years I have been getting offers for Punjabi movies. I took the chance finally." He plays 'Raj' in the film. "Punjabi films are not only doing good business but have a huge fan following as well," says Gurmeet, who wants to stay loyal to small screen that made him a household name. "Whatever I have today is courtesy TV. Television has emerged as a very powerful medium and people know me in different parts of the world because of television," says the actor who was part of Ramayan and Punar Vivah too.

Comparing the telly and film word, Gurmeet finds the first exhaustive. "Everything works at a maddening pace. We speak dialogues just fresh from the writer's pen. In a day's time the episode is shot, edited, music done and by the time I finish work and reach home, it's being aired." And, we couldn't help asking, on how does he manage that physique in the hectic work schedules? "Strict diet control and religious gym regimen.I don't compromise on my exercise," says the winner of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, open to reality shows and movies and soaps alike!

Strong appeal

Din Dehadey Lai Jaange is Sapna Thakur's third Punjabi film and the chirpy girl is happy to play Simran. "This Simarn is independent, strong willed and ends up meeting Raj. Pyaar, takrar and family drama, this DDLJ is different and good," says Sapna!
