When phirangis, like straight up goras can do desi dances better than desi dancers.

See, he (My Derek 😳 #sigh) doesn't know what a bhangra is, but LEARNED it (like actually learned even if it meant calling in someone for help...has the light bulb clicked yet?) šŸ˜† Tossed aside all those years of ballroom experience and learned it from scratch. Aside from that, he THOUGHT it to someone else.

What the hell man? Why aren't these choreographers bringing in real, unadulerated performances or bringing in reinforcements...like other pros who know the fundamentals of the dances they're assigned. Derek-Shawn don't know what bhangra is, but stayed true to the roots. Why can't the choreographers present a real dance in it's truest form? Tushar seems like the only one who's actually done that when he was piared with Ekta and they did the classical performances. Others, not so much--sometimes the kids, (but garba was a huge letdown). None of the contestants this year have done a dance to it's purest form, unless you count BW/item numbers...and let's be honest, those weren't really the highest marked dances and quite forgettable.

Judges need to go home and youtube/google/research dances before they come in and judge b/c at this point a lot of the neutral people/dance trained individuals here are doing a better job. Hell, even I can tell you if a dance "was beautiful", "badtameez", "purrr-FECT", or "this is IT!". šŸ˜†

Derek is a fabulous dancer choreographer and so is his sister... I can't just watch him dance all day... Infact even some of the participants tend to do better BW dance than some of our dancers lolz...

Judges otherwise don't have the inspiration to be professional, if they have already been told that whom they should make the winner from their side. So their professionalism hardly matters.

But well they put their reputation at stake, and actually that happens to all professionals when they agrees to work in a manipulative environment...

I think you have to keep in mind the Indian audience too - shows today change rapidly according to what audiences are interested in and maybe that's why there aren't very many pure dance forms shown on Jhalak- my opinion. But yea, it would be nice to see variety that is not a fusion of other dance forms :)

*watches the video clip and rushes back to comment* After watching that video I realized how shit JDJ looks now compared to it! 🤣

I agree, I'm quite disappointed with the less usage of Indian dance forms on JDJ. I'm pretty sure the audience would begin to embrace all these dance forms if their favourite contestant performs it. I remember that dance act of Tushar&Ekta, beautiful. ā¤ļø Wish everyone would give indian dance forms a try for once instead of doing Noutanki every week with lame "themes" that don't have a variety of dance forms at all..

Yes its very sad... I feel sad to the amount of importance that is given to Indian dance forms is very minimal or nil!
Every state in India has a unique dance form. Every tribe has a dance form. Why cant' they give some theme like "Truly Desi" to the contestants.
The coreographers should also plan atleast 1 Indian dance style once in three weeks. Come on its an Indian version of the show. Is it too mcuh to ask for Indian Dance forms..😊

@ bold - šŸ‘šŸ¼ I perfectly agree.. Even this Item number theme is ..
They can bring the Indian dance forms back to life with such efforts. Every kid now a days wants to go for Hip Hop, Slasa or Cha Cha or aerobic classes... When I was a kid, I remember running from one end of the street to the other to learn Bharathanatiyam and Kathak and carnatic music.. Somehow that urge is not there in this generation.

šŸ˜† This sounded like a pure dance topic.. No?šŸ˜†
On a serious note, I think its more to do with what they think appeals to the audience..
Even if it is for the reason that you stated (lets take for argument sake!) I wont' support it! Tongue
