all...great posts...nothing much to add except that:
I feel everyone is at various phases of the 5 Stages of coming to terms of Loss & Grief:
1) Denial & Isolation
2) Anger
3) Bargaining
4) Depression
5) Acceptance
All of us have to pass through these stages, there's no escaping that...the difference is each one of us moves through these stages at our own different speeds.
DB - Stage 1 (Denial)
- the news has just been broken about Saras...
Her attitude is also because at some level she is in a denial stage.
Why?
- to hide her guilt since (i) she had supported Kumud in her decision to marry Pramad (ii) between her two favorites, she has clearly taken kumud's side. So she cannot switch sides just like that.
Will be interesting to see how she will react when news of kumud's predicament comes to her.
VC - Stage 1 (Denial)
- forgive saras partially, but his whole centrality in kumud's decision (family & own prestige) and supporting / subtly driving her to take the decision to marry Pramad not factored in at all.
Gunial - Can't say...too little info so far.
- But I feel she will move through the stages the fastest and reach the stable stage of Acceptance.
Kumud - Stage 2 (Anger)
- she still doesn't know why saras did what he did.
- all she knows is that he told her the marriage's off, then he did not come on the wedding day, then he resurfaces at her in-laws place BUT with a new name...she's going W*F??...big time!
- So she's moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2.
I feel sorry for her. Coz she has a double whammy. When saras provides her his real reasons. She will have to restart the clock and take this journey again.
BTW - Loved the sarcasm. "I have yet to thank him for me being here".
Saras - This is really a 'Its complicated" tag.
- He has 2 events which to traverse.
A) Regarding his mom - dad stuff...He's gone through the stages and at Stage 5 (Acceptance). But when he was in Stage 4 (Depression) he did what he did to kumud.
B) Regarding Kumud he's probably between Stage 4 (Depression) and Stage 5 (Acceptance).
So the interesting part is that (i) Saras & Kumud at different stages (ii) Their core - which they think was blown up i.e. their love - still survives.
This is adding further complexity... since its around ...there is no loss and finality to their loss & grief.
So while they will still pass through the stages, each stage does not really closed off...it lingers coz their love lingers...
But, till they sync up at Stage 5, prepare to see fireworks and 'logical' inconsistencies in their responses.
Iviewer...
Our joker in the pack - Alak - showed her first card today.
- She thinks Kumud is just another pretty face.
- Very much in line with the reasoning of the BDs too...get a beautiful, traditionally brought up, 'domesticated' daughter-in-law fro their wayward son.
- Looking forward to which of our scenarios of her reaction will play out if she falls for sarar and comes to know about samud.
Really looking forward to the scene when they come to know their 'domesticated' DIL not only is a sherni but has also gone all the way (PMS) before marriage!! They are all going to fall off their chairs... I just wish at that time Kumud did a 'Gabbar' laugh..."Kitne Aadmi The...Ek Sarkar"...👏
Lastly, the way the pieces have been set up...logical moksh for everyone's characters is only if Pramad is taken out of the equation...so I guess poor Pramad's on the way out in line with the story ..👍🏼
..and maybe the reason SLB did not take a more well known actor as Pramad...would have been difficult to take him out / well known actors would not want to do a cameo type role..
P.S.
Not sure if the model above is relevant, is SLB thinking like this, did the author think like this...or just another model... are we boiling the ocean types?
..however ..it still felt good to connect this to a real life theory...so dusted off some writing on this...to check if it fits...it does so posting it...
For people who might be interested, posting a link to the basics of the model and the terms.
