I think RK says it several times I've heard him I have the right to hurt you only me. He said it when he saved her from Balraj, at the house in the bar area when she came to ask him that you are looking guilty you are not looking me in the eye, that time he said it to her, how dare he take you from me and hurt you only I have the right, she took it as he was joking but the night he unwedded her he told her, remember that night, when I said this, yes I have the right to hurt you and not others. When he came to the chawl and was questioning her who is the other man he said the same, I have the right to make you smile, I have he right to make you cry and I have the right to hurt you. The jist of what he is saying to her is that he can make her sad and happy it's his right. Madhu has handed over the rights of a husband to him knowing what sort of man he is, she knows about the unwedding, she knows he hides things from her, she knows that he is stubborn if he agrees with her the following day he will do on what they disagreed he should do, because he only agrees to have peace with her and then he proceeds to do what he intended to do anyway despite her refusing him to do that, because in his mind he is always right. Madhu knows all these character traits, but still she stays with him because of this love she feels for him. Most married women don't have a perfect husband, no-one is perfect. Madhu has love in her life from her husband despite his faults, as long as she is loved and she loves him, she doesn't care about the faults, because no-one perfect in this world.
