Finally caught up on the episode. I have very mixed feelings about it, I am not sure if I am supposed to laugh, cry, be intrigued or be impressed...because there were reasons for all four .
I was impressed with
1)DD's acting...Her concern and fear for her husband was very palpable. She sees gun in Sultan's hand and tries to reach out to the person she thought, he was and calm him down. However she tells him in no uncertain terms that she is RK's love and will continue to remain so regardless of what happens to RK. On a different note DD looked beautiful today...the dress and its color were very becoming on her.
2)VD's acting...His latent anger, his disgust, his quiet acceptance of his father's sins, his regret that he did not find the truth from his mother or the right way, his anger when Sultan goaded him with Madhu's name and his disbelief/panic at killing Sultan...every scene was stellar. His dialogues as usual had a bite to them...loved every bit of it. It is just not the character but how an actor embodies the skin of a character that matters...so far VD is doing an amazing job.
I was not impressed but liked AR's acting in some sequences...the cheap look on his face when he tells RK that he might have already won Madhu, or his shocked ...boiled eye look after getting shot were good.Though it is hard not to compare him to his counterpart in the scene but if I see his acting in individuality ...he did better than in other episodes. For some odd reason AR looked haggard and tired in today's episode ...his beard had a whitish sheen to it (as someone had pointed that out yesterday) and his hairs looked more orangish/blond today than usual.
I wanted to cry because this was one of those pivotal scenes where the MB team could have left its mark but instead the editing and the general setup was so shoddy that it has become a reason for mockery specially the falling scene. What was supposed to be one of the most powerful scenes did not make his mark ...much to my sorrow.
It is no surprise that I felt like laughing at the epic fall scene... I think, I know what they were trying to do but failed... Slow mo falling to death scenes that starts to fasten in end with a hauntingly regretful music BG are often used to capture the wastefulness of life and shock of onlookers/viewers in scifi/action movies...it heightens the impact. A slow dialogue showing Sultan's state of mind or a music showing the sadness of the moment would have helped. I was trying to look for some example video but could not find any except this one

Now for my intrigue factor
1)When RK walks out with gun, there were mantras going on in BG ...It almost made me feel like RK was headed out as a warrior of truth and to end evil...an odd thing when the show so far has been trying to justify Sultan. To make for an intriguing story...the writer should put forth the perspective of both sides in complete honesty and let the viewers choose...the way CVs flipflop makes the show inconsistent.
2)Bittuji looked stupified...when he walks in Sultan is holding RK at gunpoint...instead of calling police onto the scene...he looked confused...If he had made that call ...it would have helped RK with his case
3)Sultan looked surprised when he sees Madhu walk in...I thought he had asked Dips to send Madhu so I am confused now...Based on what I saw today..there was no plan...the idea was to kill RK or hold him at gunpoint and force Madhu to submit (which we know that she would have never done).
4)Do you think Sultan might have access to "Q"? The way he slowly floated down after getting shot and vanished in thin air...it was a feat akin to James Bond. I kept wondering if he was wearing some magical vest that acts like parachute underneath his shirt. By the way that blood from his gunshot looked too pink to be real.
5)RK does not seem like a person who can rest easy after killing someone even if he deserved it. For his sake, I hope that Sultan is alive even if temporarily. Or are we headed in the direction where the couple deal with their individual guilt.
In all an average episode that could have been so much better
