First of all, I want to state that I respect everyone's opinion on this forum. It's nice to see some great discussions going on and some nice debates

However, I notice that its becoming harder to visit his forum when I keep seeing the same thing being posted over and over again. I keep seeing people bash Ekta and the CV's and how this show is just ruining the portrayal of Jodha and Akbar

Did any of you actually live during this era? LOL how do any of us know how Akbar and Jodha actually were? No right..then why are we so hell bent on proving what is wrong and right. I understand that their is a love of history on this forum and I think that's great. However, even those historians have stated that some details are extremely vague and that some details are actually assumptions and predictions! Hell for all we know Akbar could have been way worse then what is being portrayed in the show!

I for one was not a fan of the Hrithrik Roshan portrayal of Akbar, again my opinion. I just didn't buy the whole king vibe off of him. I also felt that Aishwarya was amazing and it seemed that Hritik was never at her level. Rajat is what is making me watch this show. I mean this Akbar is so badass and the Mughals are just killing it. It's going to be so much fun to see these two go at it, I think what's going to make This relationship so awesome is watching that transition of bad to good. I understand some of the scenes have been harsh to some but I feel it's important to see the environment Jalal is in and how it effects the way he acts. I think the CV's want to show how Maham Anga, Bk and others have taken Jalal and turned him into something he's not.
Have some scenes been overdone...yes.. *Cough Fav begum ever *Cough
Suryabhan "can't hold a girls hand"Singh
But I still find him assuming and sometimes cute LOL..

How about we quit stressing over how actually someone is and take some advice from the VoiceOver uncle who kindly reminds us in the beginning of the show that we shouldn't take anything to heart. Heck this is a show that has to remind us that Jodha had different names LOL

I don't want to offend anyone on this forum, it's almost going to be a month since the show has been on air and your still watching aren't you? So if you were really bothered by the character portrayal you would have stopped watching a while back wouldn't you? ;)

I hope you guys get the gist of what I'm saying, it's hard to write down what I exactly felt but this was my take

Agree. If they really had problems with the show. Then they would've quit a long time ago...

Spot on, sweetheart. 👏👏👏

The only thing I do not agree with is about Hrithik's elegant and utterly convincing Akbar. He did not need to be overtly royal, he was to the manor, and manner, born. And in the non-confrontational scenes - the one when Jodha asks him to take the prasad after the aarti, the one where he confesses that he cannot read or write - he was superb. Aishwarya complemented and supplemented him perfectly and they were an amazing couple. They always are.

Rajat is wonderful in a very different way, for this is a different take on Jalal, and then he is going to have a lot more screen time to display his acting chops. He overdoes the wide-eyed glare a bit at times, as yesterday while describing Jodha to the artist, but he is so very good in general that one overlooks that easily. He is also probably closer to the real Akbar in physique than the tall, slender Hrithik.

I have my reservations about this Jodha, especially about what I feel is an absence of regality, but let that pass, She can be good, and one will get used to her over time.

For now. this is a suprisingly good show, even great at times. What more can one ask for, and that too without even the expense of movie tickets and samosas?😉 So I am with you 111%!!

Good Post! While I agree, that the show is fictional (and how!) and should be taken in the same spirit, one just wishes that the creatives, in particular Ekta Kapoor, is a bit more sensitive when it comes to showing certain things. The characters in this show, are afterall, people who existed once upon a time...people who are till date revered and respected for what they were, especially Akbar, who is till now, taught in Indian Schools as one of the greatest kings of India, right alongside Maurya and Ashoka.
Hence, to see a character like Akbar being portayed as a sort of sex-maniac cum war mongerer is I think pushing it a bit too far!😆
While there is no comparison to the film (I had misgivings with the film too, but after watching this JA...I sort of regard Gowarikar's film to be a timeless classic😆)...the creatives on the show can tone it down a bit, in every aspect. It won't affect the show at all...in fact, if anything, it will add more class to it. Fine, if you want to totally fictionalize the show and pretend that Jodha infact was baying for Akbar's blood just as she was romancing in the open with Suryabhaan...but also don't forget that what you are showing is based on real people and they are not a figment of someone's imagination. Hence, there has to be a limit to fictionalize these people and a limit to dramatize something that in all probability never happened in the first place.
Rajat is the saving grace of this show...he really is! I have never seen any of his shows regularly before...only had a glimpse of him in Tere Liye...but he is fabulous in the show! Paridhi is good too...but as somone put it before...she has something lacking! Can't put a finger on it...but she is not as convincing as a fearless Rajput Princess as much as Rajat totally sells it as Emperor Akbar. But I am guessing that with the coming episodes, we will get to see much more of Paridhi!
PS: Agreed, that no one lived in the 15th century...but that is why history exists. In the form of books, documents, folk tales etc...they might not all tell the actual truth, but then, they can't all be lying also, right? If Akbar's biography says that his favorite wife was Ruquiyaa begum, there is certainly no way to disprove it. I think its just expected that whatever has been handed down in history is to be taken as the truth...or atleast, some version of the truth.
And yes, this really is a very sane and friendly forum...really nice to see that no one is at each other's throat's just because someone is expressing a different POV!😃

through discussion on this or other forums we can convey our thoughts to CVs... like earlier they didn't show that Ruqayya is Mughal princes but we keep pointed it out and @ last they mentioned in this show,,, same as the smirk in the beginning some other things etc... btw who we r to denying the things which are repetitively mentioned in all historical documents... like Rajpus way of life .. their strict family rulz and paranparas who we r to think tht it should be other wise

I don't like the way Hritik talks.. He doesn't talk properly that is why his acting usually puts me off. His voice too..

About Akbar being a sex-maniac and war monger, that's not true. Firstly, Akbar was for a long period of time, a war-monger. He got into a number of wars to expand his empire, and the course of the expansion could not have been achieved without a large number of wars. And about sex-maniac, the show does not portray Akbar as a sex-maniac at all. Rather, the queens constantly crib about the fact how Jalal does not come to anyone's room. 😆 Even, they made it clear in the last episode how Jalal did not even come to Ruqaiyaa's room at night. 😳 That is the major reason why the queens are that frustrated. And about the point of his having so many queens, that's what history says. And now. See, this show is about the journey of Jalal to becoming Akbar. He is already transforming from the boy-king with little clue to a mature and wise emperor. That is the whole point of the show. The journey. And the hatred between Jalal and Jodha is what adds to the romantic angle of the show. Because otherwise, there would have been nothing left for them to portray, what the movie hasn't already done.
