They started with a Jalal like a cross between two bloodthirsty mass murderers and plunderers, Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammed Ghori, just in order to enhance Jodha's supposed contribution to 'civilising' him, Ridiculous, as was showing him as ignorant of all things Rajput while the fact is that he was born in a Rajput kingdom and spent his yearly ears there and later in another Rajput principality in today's MP. It was that exposure to a different, more tolerant culture that helped make him what he became in later years. Not just Jodha.
Anyway, there ought to be some limit to such distortions, as you have put it so well. There has been some improvement, and I hope for more as the show progresses.

Good Post! While I agree, that the show is fictional (and how!) and should be taken in the same spirit, one just wishes that the creatives, in particular Ekta Kapoor, is a bit more sensitive when it comes to showing certain things. The characters in this show, are afterall, people who existed once upon a time...people who are till date revered and respected for what they were, especially Akbar, who is till now, taught in Indian Schools as one of the greatest kings of India, right alongside Maurya and Ashoka.
Hence, to see a character like Akbar being portayed as a sort of sex-maniac cum war mongerer is I think pushing it a bit too far!😆While there is no comparison to the film (I had misgivings with the film too, but after watching this JA...I sort of regard Gowarikar's film to be a timeless classic😆)...the creatives on the show can tone it down a bit, in every aspect. It won't affect the show at all...in fact, if anything, it will add more class to it. Fine, if you want to totally fictionalize the show and pretend that Jodha infact was baying for Akbar's blood just as she was romancing in the open with Suryabhaan...but also don't forget that what you are showing is based on real people and they are not a figment of someone's imagination. Hence, there has to be a limit to fictionalize these people and a limit to dramatize something that in all probability never happened in the first place.Rajat is the saving grace of this show...he really is! I have never seen any of his shows regularly before...only had a glimpse of him in Tere Liye...but he is fabulous in the show! Paridhi is good too...but as somone put it before...she has something lacking! Can't put a finger on it...but she is not as convincing as a fearless Rajput Princess as much as Rajat totally sells it as Emperor Akbar. But I am guessing that with the coming episodes, we will get to see much more of Paridhi!PS: Agreed, that no one lived in the 15th century...but that is why history exists. In the form of books, documents, folk tales etc...they might not all tell the actual truth, but then, they can't all be lying also, right? If Akbar's biography says that his favorite wife was Ruquiyaa begum, there is certainly no way to disprove it. I think its just expected that whatever has been handed down in history is to be taken as the truth...or atleast, some version of the truth. And yes, this really is a very sane and friendly forum...really nice to see that no one is at each other's throat's just because someone is expressing a different POV!😃
