So Tanveer played the Ghaffoor card. In fact, over the weekend, I'd had the passing thought that Tanveer could trade off Asad with Zoya's father. As in: if Zoya wanted to find her father, she'd surrender Asad to Tanveer.
I'd thought it was a bit too soon to play that card, but I was wrong - and Tanveer's discarding her ace.
From the PH's pov, it is the only logical way of keeping AsYa apart at this stage. Because if Zoya wants, she can expose Tanveer - find proof that Asad is not responsible for Tanveer's pregnancy, or that Tanveer is not who she pretends to be, or that Tanveer is responsible for the attempts on her life.
So, keeping the tension in the AsYa romance, at this stage by preventing marriage and consummation is only possible by keeping them apart through this twist. And what a masterstroke! Although I hate it, I can admire this twist with a certain detachment. In one fell swoop, not only does Tanveer get what she wants but she inflicts lasting damage on the AsYa relationship.
I mean, if as shown in the precap, Zoya agrees to the trade-off, she has already undermined their relationship with Asad. She has violated his faith in her, besmirched her own ethics. And after the immediate joy of finding her father is past, she will be riddled with cold, hard guilt that she sold out Asad. I doubt she will be able to look him in the eyes with a clear conscience. At the back of her mind will always lurk the fear that Asad will find out her betrayal. And how much more worse will it be for Asad if her were to discover that his love, who claims to love him, puts him second best in her life.
By succumbing to this temptation, there is also the more immediate danger that Zoya will surrender not just the moral high ground but also the power to Tanveer. In that now she lays herself open to future blackmail by Tanveer.
A master-stroke, truly. but my heart bleeds for Asad. He will have been sold down the river by his friend and his love. Although I hate this twist, I have to admire it.
