After watching today's episode I'm very sympathetic towards Kumud - not because of Pramad's behavior towards her, but because of her bad luck in men. I'm sure that like most girls, Kumud's dreams of marriage have involved a loving husband, a good household, and a happy life. Unfortunately, both the men who she has been involved with don't fit that description of the type of dream man most girls yearn for. Let's recap shall we?

1. Saraswatichandra Vyas...but not Vyas anymore- Yeah, I know Gautam Rode is pretty dreamy, and that any girl would be swooning over the post-confession, lovey-dovey Saras, but let's just look back at SaMud's journey for a second. Kumud's parents get a rishta from a well-to-do, high class family in Dubai for their son. She sees the same guy in her dreams, and immediately falls for him. He then proceeds to reject her, because his past problems with his parents, most notably his dad's neglect, lead him to believe he won't be able to keep her happy. Fast-forward a little and we see that Saras has gotten over his daddy issues and is finally marrying his lady love - but wait! Don't fall for it, it's a trick 😆. The daddy issues come back stronger than ever and Saras breaks up with Kumud, 2 days before their wedding. Cue heartbreak.

2. Pramad Dhan - This guy is a total mystery to Kumud, one she hasn't particularly cared about solving as she's had plenty of other stuff to be worrying about. However, she must have put in a little thought process in her impulsive decision to get married. Maybe she wasn't expecting a loving man like Saras - maybe she was expecting a typical arranged marriage, in which she would have to win everyone's (including Pramad's) hearts with her sugharpan and ghar-daari. Well, that plan seems to have failed as well, as Pramad clearly says to her on their suhaag raat, "I only married you because Dad made me." Seeing a pattern here?

Kumud's character is flawed, yes - she's shown to be realistic, a human, one with a massive ego and a habit of being impulsive. But I don't think any of these flaws warrant her deserving a life where she's always denied love because of family politics and the inability of the men in her life to grow a spine. All the people saying she got what she deserved - that's your opinion, but really, what has the girl done for her to deserve having her heart break multiple times and having to spend the rest of her life in an abusive marriage? Keyword abusive. I'm sure she knew what she was signing up for when she agreed to the wedding - I'm sure she wasn't expecting love or happiness. But abuse? What did she do to deserve that?

i am too narrow minded when it comes to saras kumud...all my myopic eyes could see is that right now they bothe r in same house and in equal pain they inflicted on each other

but then u r right...feel bad for her ...as for papa of both boys ...rich people often have such kids

its mothers who actually mould the child

when u have a mother like pramad has...the boy goes reckless...as he always has his mom to pamper him

and when u dont have a mother like Saras ...the boy goes into a shell ...coz nobody is there to say son I love U

Dramaybaaz - a nice piece of observation. I liked your title too - A tale of 2 men with Daddy issues - so very apt.
Somehow I think VC, his wife, and Kumud overlooked the obvious. Their flag should have been raised when Pramad and his family said 'YES' to a shotgun wedding. The groom did not want to 'see' her before the wedding - now that should have been a straight give away. But VC was caught up in his ego and wanting to score over LN. Kumud wanted to prove that she could live without Saras and so said 'yes' to the first available male.
The book was written during a period when Indian society did not permit the "boy" and "girl" to meet before the wedding (in case of an arranged marriage). The family members checked out the boy/girl. However, times have changed and in this day and age it is a mandatory custom that the boy & girl meet before the match is finalized. So for VC and his wife to rush the wedding is akin to a moth rushing into a flame.
Given all that had transpired - if VC had exercised wisdom, he would have realized that he needed to talk to Saras and find out what was troubling him.
All in all, I think this a tale of 2 men and a woman with Daddy issues!

There is a differerence
Saras is emotionally unstable because he is alone has noone no real family neither mom-dad to love him or younger brother to share his thougths. So he is a loner and no one to share his thoughts life with from childhood. He also has no relatives to share his pain etc.
I cannot guess about pramad relations with his family. He has a mother-sister and a mom-sis will never leave you lonely no matter what issues you have with them. So pramad is not completely lonely and abondoned like saras. But i think he has issues with his dad just like saras but not with his mom-sis.
But both were forced into marriage by their father with a girl of their parents choice. Saras slowly accepted and fell in love but pramad will not.

Also, Saras is a Samaritan and loves to give to the needy. He may have commitment issues but he is of strong moral character

Pramad doesn't use his wealth for good deeds. He spends it on alcohol and women.

A world of difference please... And I think these things will help kumud forgive Sara's slowly..

Tbh I never found a fault in kumud in this whole situationI mean when saras called and rejected her 2 days before the wedding??!!!Like that's disgraceful and yet many forum members blamed kumud
Ermmm
... It was saras who rrejected her Again due to his own in securities yet kumud was majority blamed
I was so confused of the response from forum membersI thought I was the only one that could clearly see that kumid wasn't at fault!Saras broke her trust and she didn't have trust in herself anymore so she blindly trusted the people that care about her the most - her parents
Many girls including me would do.that. if my lover deceived me last minute of the wedding and left me stranded and left my family stranded despite all the finance and guest invitations and wedding dress and luggages packed omg... I wouldn't know what I doI would silently and blindly do what my parents will tell me to do, which is exactly what kumud did!And bdw I am from UK and have been born here and I have this mentality and I'm.sure many many girls would have same response if put in such situation.

Reposted from another topic as seems relevant kinda lol

I'm not comparing them...obviously our hero is a much better person than Pramad. I'm just saying that both of them have problems with their families which have led to them not being able to commit to a relationship. Saras is definitely more morally upright than Pramad, hands down.

I completely agree! I didn't think Kumud was at fault at all! Yes, she made impulsive decisions just like Saras, but she made them in order to keep her family's heads held high. Saras was the one who broke her trust, and she had to gamble with her life because of the decision he made. Most people won't agree with me but I think the reason that most forum members are sympathetic with Saras is that seeing Gautam Rode cry makes them more biased towards him 😆. IMO, I've noticed that girls tend to be more sympathetic to the hero no matter what the situation.

Very very well said, dramaybaaz, anonee and shana...liked your observations...

And here we must not forget Dukhba...when VC said his daughter will marry on the same day and go to a better house than LN's, Dukhba had cautioned please do not do haste...i have experienced all that and i do not want Kumud to go through the same...but VC didnt pay heed to that.
