they had a lot of options before starting this season wid new characters. they could have extended first punar vivah, or could have taken a small break and come back wid this new season if having time was really the problem and the reason behind this weak storyline and less focus on the way characters are portrayed. moreover the makers were pretty clear that they wanted to end first season lot of weeks before the first season ended and considering how punar vivah 1 become such a huge hit since its first day how could they make such a mistake. i dont understand that.

its just that i really want to love this show but the messed characters and storyline is preventing that. i loved karan in yaha mein ghar ghar kheli and ruby in choti bahu..

John, they had tonnes of options but they (PH/Channel) are looking for short-term profits. I had read somewhere that male lead of PV1 is one of the highest paid actors. So that was probably the reason to wrap up that show and start a new season.

The idea of seasons is not bad as this way the story of any show doesn't drag much. However, you have to wrap up each season properly and start a new one with a proper characterization and a story.

Here they wrapped up PV1 so quickly even though they were in middle of some kidnapping story. So that show never got a proper ending. Then they hired Ruby at the last minute and promoted it as her and Raj's story because both Ruby and Karan are more popular than others in the show. It seems as if it took a day for them to come up with these half-baked characters and a story. The result is that ratings went down so drastically.

Now conveniently, they are trying all these experiments (Mahasangam with a hit show , changing Sarita into this so called sacrificing wife, Raj showing falling for her without any reason or rhyme) to get TRPs. If this tactic does not work, they will try some more - maybe bring back Divya or convert Divya into a negative character to glorify Sarita or whatnot. I don't think these creative are at all concerned about giving a good product to audience. All they are concerned about are their short term ratings.

It is frightening that I have only watched about twenty minutes of this show, and yet within less than twenty pages I have been further convinced of my decision to not watch it. At the end of the day, it seems that the Creatives and the Channel have failed to understand (even after their royal screw up with PV1 and Khoobsurat in the Mittals' case, and every Zee show in the Channel's case) that viewers want something logical to follow which also connects with us. Entertainment is not simply entertainment, especially when it comes to a daily serial. It's about being able to have the viewers connect with all of the characters, both "good" and "bad". Viewers will watch and discuss an antagonistic character with just as much enthusiasm for the protagonists if they are all well written and given motivations we too have. They need to become real to us, and the events in their lives need to have an obvious impact on them--be it negative or positive. In this ridiculous pursuit of high TRP figures, everything is trashed, trampled, and ripped apart rather than planned, and executed with care. It is beyond me how people can continue to make the same foolish mistakes repetitively when the clear path is brighter than the sun.
