It is frightening that I have only watched about twenty minutes of this show, and yet within less than twenty pages I have been further convinced of my decision to not watch it. At the end of the day, it seems that the Creatives and the Channel have failed to understand (even after their royal screw up with PV1 and Khoobsurat in the Mittals' case, and every Zee show in the Channel's case) that viewers want something logical to follow which also connects with us. Entertainment is not simply entertainment, especially when it comes to a daily serial. It's about being able to have the viewers connect with all of the characters, both "good" and "bad". Viewers will watch and discuss an antagonistic character with just as much enthusiasm for the protagonists if they are all well written and given motivations we too have. They need to become real to us, and the events in their lives need to have an obvious impact on them--be it negative or positive. In this ridiculous pursuit of high TRP figures, everything is trashed, trampled, and ripped apart rather than planned, and executed with care. It is beyond me how people can continue to make the same foolish mistakes repetitively when the clear path is brighter than the sun.
Hi Kittya, good to see you as I remember your posts from CB. Yeah, it is hard to watch this show. There is no rhyme or logic to this show at all. They could have done something different with the show, yet they screwed it up big time. The channel of course is notorious with doing outlandish stuff. But even this PH is amazing the way they have not even got the content right from the very first month itself. Now since everything is falling apart, either actors are disappearing or writers/directors are being changed almost every other day.
I actually had watched their PV1 from the middle somewhere, but left it after couple of months when instead of following the theme, the show just started floundering. But still at least viewers connected to characters of that show probably because the characterization in the beginning was good.
Here from the beginning, the show never explained any of the character. There is only one character Sarita who is being explained and whose past story is being shown. But the more they show her story, the more whacky her character is becoming. In fact, the characters have become so irritating that I cannot even watch the show even when I try.
You are so right that viewers will discuss even a negative character if that character is interesting. Here even the "positive" characters are so irritating. So how can viewers connect to this show at all?
More than likely, this channel will continue to do the same thing until their management changes because it is clear that this management uses same techniques all the time. So introduce a show with popular leads without any proper story. If the show starts floundering, combine it with a hit show and start experimentation when the ratings are stalled. Then if the ratings do not still rise, kill or remove a character, keep on doing it for few months and then close it abruptly. The less said about this PH, the better. It seems that this PH only thinks that saas-bahu abuse is a way to get ratings and that the life of females should revolve around a guy even if that guy is totally unworthy. They tout their themes as progressive and then go on to show the most regressive things by justifying that this is the way things are in conservative Indian cities.
I don't know which conservative city or conservative family has such characters where the most intimate things are discussed so publicly in front of guests and kids.
