Asad finished going over his presentation and stretched his arms out ready to sleep suddenly a squealing Najma burst into his room "Bhaijaan, get up its Sehri time" Asad raised his eyebrow "Yeah, why so excited Tamatar?" Najma beamed at him "Its the first Roza today, I'm just so excited" she walked out the room "Bhaijaan I have to help Ammi please wake Zoya up" Asad groaned "Mission impossible"
Asad made his way to Zoya's room and opened the door he smiled upon seeing Zoya sleeping peacefully and walked up to her bed shaking her lightly "Miss Farooqui, wake up its Sehri time" he waited a few seconds but he got no response he sighed, "Miss Farooqui please get up" she tossed around in her bed and scrunched up her face "Its Sehri, do us all a favour and get will you" he said sarcastically knowing that she could hear him, Zoya pulled the covers over her head "Go away Mr Khan" she replied Asad got irritated and pulled the covers off "Get up Zoya or I'll get you up myself" Zoya got up and shot him a look "Why couldn't you let me sleep for a few minutes more?" Asad rolled his eyes "Freshen up please, we all know how long your few minutes are" walking out the room. "Now please hurry or the food will be gone" he smirked at her.
Zoya walked out her room a few minutes after, "Salaamualaikum everyone" she said in her usual chirpy voice. Najma and Dilshaad beamed at her and asked her to sit. "Finally" muttered Asad "Did you say something Mr Khan?" Asad cleared his throat "Nope not at all" Dilshaad chuckled "Quit it both of you, this is meant to be a month of peace" she set out the last few Parantha's on the table. Zoya's eyes widened "Allah Miyaan Phuphi..parantha's for Sehri?" They all looked at her "Erm yes.. What were you expecting?" Zoya looked embarrassed "Oh erm we usually have cereal" Dilshaad laughed "Cereal? That doesn't sound very filling" she put out Parantha and home made Daii(yogurt) for her Zoya smiled "This is different, thank you Phuphi" Sehri went down well and they all stayed back and chatted for a while until Najma and Dilshaad went to put the dishes away "Mr Khan how long left till Sehri ends? Asad looked at his watch. "Around 1 minute left" Zoya gasped and grabbed the jug of water and filled out two glasses "Now how long?" "Erm 30 seconds" Zoya quickly downed both glasses in under 30 seconds while Asad watched her with a baffled look on his face. "What the hell, can you not act like a junglee for once" Zoya rolled her eyes "Whatever Mr Khan" and both left the table. After Fajr prayers everyone retired to their rooms.
Around 10am everyone except Zoya had woken up and got out of bed, Asad was leaving for office spotting his mother cleaning up with Najma "Where is Miss Farooqui Ammi? She's normally eating everyone's head out at this time" Najma giggled "Bhaijaan she wants to wake up later so she doesn't stay hungry for long" Asad raised his eyebrow "What a weirdo..at least wake her up for Prayers, Khudafiz" and left for office.
He returned back an hour before Iftaari, Najma and Dilshaad were busy cooking in the kitchen he looked around for Zoya and found her looking at the blank wall she looked pale he went over and sat on the couch next to her waving his hands near her face.. "Miss Farooqui? What's wrong" she looked at him and sighed "Mr Khan, if I don't keep myself busy I get hungry really easily" Asad rubbed his temple this girl seriously has a loose screw he thought to himself suddenly she got up "Phuphi!" she shouted "Yes Zoya?" "I am going to hoover the room" Dilshaad looked at her with a confused expression and looked over at Asad who tried to hold in his laughter "Erm okay Zoya" for the next fifteen minutes Asad watched Zoya hoover around the living area, she finally stopped. "Thank god" he again muttered. "Phuphi I'm going to take a shower now" Dilshaad nodded and laughed "Crazy girl" after 25 minutes Zoya walked out her room with her hair put up in a towel she seated herself at the dining table. "How long left Mr Khan?" "5 minutes left" she grinned "Oh thank god Mr Khan you know what?" "What?" "My stomach has been rumbling all day but I'm not complaining, I thank god for such a blessed month some people have to go through this everyday" Asad smiled at her no matter how annoying she was her heart was made out of gold. "How long now Mr Khan?" "2 minutes have some patience" "First day is always the hardest" Zoya then got up and helped set out the last few things Asad looked at his watch "its time to open your roza now everyone" "Oh yay" Zoya squealed praying the dua and then stuffed her mouth with Kujoor. Asad thought to himself that he would have to get used to this, after all she was soon to be his wife.
How was it? Hope I didn't offend anyone :) I'm sure some of the things I wrote happen during Ramadan in a normal household.. well it does at mineđ hope you guys enjoyed it and do leave your likes and comments! :)
