bt according to history Jodha Bai was known as Harka Bai and Jahangir was d son of Jodha-Akbaar.. nd as far as i read in history during my school days, only Akbaar was d grt king among ll d Mughals.
No one is discounting the fact that Akbar was not a great king! But the definition of a great king according to history books is not based on his personal life...rather on his political and administrative decisions and beliefs! In that regard, indeed Akbar was probably the greatest ruler of India, after Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka.
But his personal life is quite another story...and that is obviously not discussed in class 8th history books! I am sure, no one wants kids to read about the number of women that Akbar slept with!😆 But when you study the same Mughal History in detail during college, you get to know many, many more facets of the same person, that you did not know earlier.
It is a false rumor that Jodha Bai was Akbar's wife...believe me! Jodha Bai was actually the name of one of Jahangir's hindu wives...and she was the mother of Shah Jahan.
You can ask any bonafide historian or read any authentic book on Mughal History and it will never mention the name of Jodha Bai in connection with Akbar!
Irfan Habib is perhaps the greatest Mughal Historian in India at this time...and his books are widely prescribed for all students of history across colleges in India...and in none of his books on Mughal India (and he has written lots and lots!) is there a mention of anyone by the name of Jodha Bai!
