I think he is scared about getting the truth revealed infront of Aradhya. He stayed away from them for 5 years to fulfill his wife's last wish, now with Aru finding him he is scared that he will unknowingly express his feelings for his son & reveal the truth if he meets his son. He dont want that to happen now coz it will break his promise and wud also break his son as well as a family's happiness.
