No, I don't the show is for non dancers only, but its also not for PROFESSIONAL dancers.
BUT, ITS CONSIDERED, 'DANCING WITH THE STARS."
One of my biggest peeves with this show is that fact that they are just adding in non-celebs. Like Lauren, I think she's a very nice girl, but a celeb? So if someone comes in one movie, they're considered a celeb? Seriously? If we're using that logic, then Salman and Puneet should be celebs too because they've come in movies. BUT, they act as choreographers. Then why isn't Lauren a choreographer too? And Mukti Mohan? I'm sorry, what has she done to be a "celeb" in this show? The only thing I know about her is that she's related to Shakti Mohan and Neeti Mohan.
The entire show is loosing its credibility. They judges give out 10's like its no one's business. Some judges are extremely biased (hello Remo?). The challenges aren't danced based anymore. Before, contestants were given a theme, like say Salsa or Tango, and all contestants had to dance to either style. This time, they're giving challenges like family. W*F does family have to add in terms of judging dancing? And I really hate those clips they add of the actors "practising" their dancing. Before, they used to show clips of all actors practising, and they would show them actually practising. In JDJ 6, they only some clips of some actors practising and the celebs aren't even practising, they're acting (ex. Shaan pretending to sleep in rehearsals). Its all getting annoying.
And regarding the non dancers thing, I think its fine if people who are good dancers participate on this show. I remember we had people like Shweta Salve and whatnot, and she's a fabulous dancer. But there's a difference between getting someone who is a professional dancer (they practise on their dancing all day and night) and someone who is a good dancer (like Shweta Salve). It we start getting professional dancers to compete with non dancers, that's completely unfair.
