Marriage off or Delayed?
There was a lot of speculation about the Abhishek Bachchan- Aishwarya Rai marriage announcement to come in the New Year. Unfortunately the New Year hasn't brought in the wedding bells for the latest Bollywood jodi. Earlier it was Dhoom 2 that prompted the couple to keep a low profile. Now it's Jodha Akbar. Ashutosh wants to cash in on the Hrithik-Aishwarya on-screen chemistry, post Dhoom 2. The funny bit is, now the audience wants to see Ash romancing Hrithik, not Abhishek. No wonder, there's hardly any buzz on Guru, Abhishek-Aishwarya's next release together. Even the thought of Dhirubai Ambani (on whom Abhishek's character is modeled in the film) dancing with Mallika Sherawat is not creating any excitement about the film!
Now we hear there's a twist to the Abhishek - Aishwarya love story. One of our reliable sources tells us that while Jr. Bachchan is so smitten by Ash and is dying to tie the knot at the earliest, Ash has more reasons than one for keeping him on hold. To begin with, Abhishek's market value has come crashing down after Dhoom 2. It's no understatement to say that Hrithik has walked away with almost all his fans after the film. Ironical as it may sound, it was Shah Rukh Khan who was giving Abhishek the jitters during Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. At least that's what Abhishek thought, not knowing that it was his own friend, Hrithik Roshan, who would pull the rug from under his feet in Dhoom 2.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, Ash is said to be eagerly awaiting the release of Provoked and her other Hollywood film. Her agent is also negotiating a deal for a film in which Ash costars with Will Smith. The film is said to be an action film in which she has a very meaty role. If this deal is signed, then Ash will be catapulted to the top bracket of stars. Then the girl can gracefully bid goodbye to Bollywood and do a Salma Hayek. So where does this leave Abhishek? Waiting in the wings forever? We don't know if Abhishek would like to be in this situation but one person who'd love it is mom Jaya Bachchan. It's no secret that although she approves of the relationship on the face of it, she's actually dead set against the match. Don't know if this has something to do with the much talked about Hrithik-Ash smooch in Dhoom 2. But the unfortunate bit for her is Big B's nod to the relationship. Let's wait and watch what happens next!
