It would be good if the judges gave their comments about each contestant like last time. Of course I know that there are too many contestants this time, and it would be a time-consuming process for judges to give their comments (they must be already struggling to listen to the songs 😆 )

However, in order to be of some real help to the contestants, judges' qualitative comments are imperative. For instance one judge had given a rating of 4 to a contestant and another has given 9! How on earth will this contestant know where to improve? As a mentor, I can give only my inputs; the opinion of the judges will remain a mystery unless they share their views.

I agree with Sahana.

A few words from each judge will be much appreciated. 😊

1. Are the contestant supposed to sing a song of the same gender?

2. What if the song you have seleted is a duet song. Do a male singer sing only male part from the song? or duets are not allowed at all. But I have heard many duet songs in the past and contest rules says we need to sing the entire song?

Barnali or Jaya or Anu, could one of you please clarify this? 😊

I personally think it would be a good idea not to impose restrictions on the song in terms of the gender of the singer. Even SRGMP showed males singing originally female songs and vice versa.

I agree comments are needed but maybe in this round things went in such a manner that it was not possible. too many to listen to and then all the festival time. but i'll surely mention this to the judges from next round. with the new format of results now they will hav 15days to rate the contestants so will not face problems in doing that.

anyone can sing any song. gender does not matter as per rules. duets will hav to be sung complete and not in parts as asked. but now it will be upto the mentor and the contestants to take this risk. because remember mostly u may find that male songs at bit lower scales than female numbers when sung individually. so if its a popular song the judge may find some discripensies and... 😊😛

so it is upto the mentors and the contestants to decide this. but rules does not bar them from singing thus.

Just need to make one more clarification. The next round is titled "Sad/Romantic - Slow numbers" so I take it to mean sad OR romantic. The oblique sign is taken to mean OR not AND. This means that a happy, romantic song should be in order as long as it is slow.

I got a PM from kabhi with a query by Ashish.

I want one clarification. I know that the rules of the contest say that the song should be sung in full. Some songs have only 2 stanzas while others have 3 or sometimes even more. Can the rule be modified to say something like "The song should be sung in full unless it has more than 2 stanzas in which case it is up to the participant as to whether he/she wants to sing more than 2 verses"?

Thanks.

sorry but the rule says the song will hav to be sung full and it will remain the same. there won't be any change in the rule. 😊 😛

I don't know how it is going with other gharanas, but I am not happy with the way I have to keep emailing my contestants, asking if their songs are ready. Let's all be a little more responsible. Sore throats will come and go.

I would advise that as soon as soon as a contestant feels up to it, he/she should record songs for the next two rounds in one shot. Let's finalise the songs to be sung for all future rounds and record them all in one shot. I am sure even great singers like Lata and Rafi would not delay so much in turning up for recordings.

If a mentor is expected to guide a contestant, she/he should receive the songs long before the deadline so that there is time to offer suggestions or even change the song. If the songs are sent to the mentor on the last day, all the mentor can do is to act like a rubber-stamping clerk and post it on the forum. Is that what a mentor is for?

After all, we mentors also have our jobs and careers just like the contestants, but have taken this responsibility. Please keep us informed on a regular basis about what is happening, are you recording songs or not, are there any problems etc.
