I disagrre, Even in countries cultures, ethinics, values, tradiions are different in certain parts of a country, lets anrrow it down a city, take a big diversial city, New York City, In on place people are praying Namaaz, while around fifteen to sixteen blocks away someone is praying in a Church. That didn't destroy aything living in a city like this I dont think my ethnics, my culture, my traditions, and even my values have been damaged because of this.
You're talking about concious decisions and behavior. I'm talking the more deep rooted traditions that mingling of cultures seems to destroy. Anyone who's ever read of Japan before the Meiji Restoration and been to the country in recent years knows the difference. Sure, they have their own language, their own customs, but the way of life they once held dear has been destroyed.
You can even witness it inside the US. I was born and raised in New York, and going to a rural area like a friend's ranch in New Mexico showed me the diverse ways of life that can exist within a few thousand miles of each other. Yet, due to the ever popular migration of wealthy city dwellers down into rural areaas after retirement has put a strain and blurred the small town Southern values that were prevailent here. I was actually witness to the transformation that took palce in Aspen, as my family has spent many Christmases on our property there. How small town values and lifestyles are compromised.
Making the entire world into one large country would erase any boundaries between people, and while that may seem like a good thing to most people, it's not. Eventually, the wealthier people from wealthier parts of the singular nation would insist on moving in and taking over once remote and spectacular areas and destroying ways of lives that have dominated for millenia. Especially in untouched areas in Micronesia, where some tribes still live the same lifestyle they did when they were first discovered.
Making a single country would destroy ethnic traditions, values and cultures that are preserved in many countries.
