as per "Akbarnama" by abdul fazl Akbar had 7 wives by the formal nikah ceremony known as nikah wives or legal wives and rajput princes was one of them...these wives are
1. sultana raquia begum
2.salema begum
3. wife of abdul wasi
4. princess of Amber or Jaipur 'harkha bai or hiira bai or jodha baai as( she was a rajput princess and hailed from rajasthan) ...it was more a kind of treaty and the interesting point is tht Akbar didn't arrived with the baarat instead she was send to him to delhi as the token of frnship'
5. bibi daulet sahib
6. daughter of abdul khan moghul
7. daughter of miran mubarak shah
apart from this he had almost 300 secondary wives salve girls and concubines in his harem often called as mutah wives''.some of his rajput wives were''' 1. daughter of kanhan and princess of bikaner 2. daughter of rawal har rai of jaislamer 3. sister of rana uday singh marwar...4 princess of merta and durgapur...
initally ocupying the inferior position jodha bai became chief queen wen she give birth to akbar's first son jahangir (sultan salem) and she got the title of Mariyam Uz Zamani or Mary of the universe.. often the name jodha bai is confounded with Jodh bai or Jodha Bai who was eventually jahangir's wife''but there is no record of her real names as Akbar never allowed his wives names to be spoken in public and referef with the title conferrred on them hence she was called mariyam uz zamani'
..she was one of the fav queen of Akbar her allowances and pension was more than the other queens in his harem..almost equal to the empress Raquia begaum...though raquia begam had a tremendous infleunce on Akbar and she was the beloved wife of Akbar this rajput princess enjoyed equal status as well...she was even given a separate palace known as Maryam Mahal or golden palace (situated at fatehpur sikri ) though the rajput princess were taught kuran and were asked to inculcate the teachings of islam they were allowed to follow their religion... infact the rajput princess's apartment in Akbar palace had a havan kund and place to worship her hindu idol...
Jodha bai was known for her sharp intellect, versatile temper and sound common sense'.Akbar took her advice in the matter pertaining to hindu tradition and religion and his decisions like rolling back the tax from hindu pilgrism banning on animal slaughter establishment of Din- I- illahi building hindu temples indicates the influence of his rajput princess and his hindu minister birbal'..
