I wouldn't call it glorifying but they definitely have crossed a limit. The kind of this Razia does reminds me of Dumbledore's "...beyond usual evil" line that he uses to describe Voldemort.
Razia and Tanveer are horrible. When Razia pushed Badi Bi from the stairs I was so pissed off that I stopped watching for a few days. Badi Bi gave it back but even what she did by sending Razia to the asylum was cruel. I wished that at least she would see that Razia learns a lesson instead of just hurting her somehow. I was horrified when Tanveer told that she poked herself with the pencil.
I wonder what's wrong with these people. Is it really necessary to show all that? 😡
Talk about psychopaths

Yes. Asad's character has been butchered. CVs have comletely gone out their mind.

Ever since I made the mistake of watching some of 4Lion's shows, I have noticed this trend.
I am sorry to say that it is not restricted to just this PH but widespread in the Soap world.

I have said this repeatedly that it is reprehensible of not only the PH but the Channels to encourage such shows that give step-by-step instructions on how to carry out tortures, evil schemes, lies, and deceit, etc.

As I channel-surf on youtube, I have seen various methods here and there showcase in detail how to kill / torture DILs (or others) with poison, live wires, snakes/scorpions, rapes, 'accidents', fire, drowning, knives, guns, etc.

The 'redemption' or 'justice' scenes are usually one or two episodes long and consist of a long lecture with the cops coming at the end (as usual).😕

Art reflects society, but I find it hard to believe that for every 6 people who brutally raped and murdered that poor girl in Delhi, there are not 600,000 who rise up in protest.
Viewing the crowd that rose up in protest, it was clear that it had a huge representative from the 'middle-class' and 'house-wife' groups to whom such daily soaps are marketed.

So it is mind-boggling that such a crowd accepts these dirty stories by various Channels and PHs.
But, accept, it does.
When I speak with people who watch it, while they disagree with what is shown, they see it for the 'good' moments, the 'romance' moments, the 'justice prevails' moments.

There are certainly some who relish the negative aspects of the show. But like the perpetrators of a crime, they are few in number.
Yet, these few are the ones being catered to in our stories.

Antagonists are needed in every story, and there are likely even more horrendous stories in society than are depicted on screen.
Yet there are a far greater number of 'good' stories as well.
I am equally sure that most of these 'good' stories did not become 'good' without some amount of struggle; and hey, presto! Antagonist is born!

One could easily use the antagonist in 'good' stories rather than use the protagonist in 'bad' stories.
Unfortunately, the latter seems to rule the roost.
I lay the blame squarely on saas-buhoo shows AND the watching 'middle-class housewife'.

When saas-buhoo and evil shows began in the mid 1990s, housewives and the middleclass were hungry for shows other than on the government channel.
They were shocked and titillated by what was shown and got hooked.
Not on the shows, but to TV-watching.

Once people get home from work/school, etc, (grown-ups) I hardly see them venture out of their houses except to buy something/speak to someone real quickly.
The standard is to have dinner finished by the time the shows start.
There is no emphasis on family conversations, games played together, engaging in productive work, giving time to non-profits, or volunteer work, or simply going for walks, meeting with friends, etc.

It is all about TV, and that is the 'relaxation'.

I have also observed myriad emotional ups and downs that such people experience because of these shows and their attachment to the fictional characters.
I have seen blood pressures shoot up, crying bouts, mood swings, eye-strains, headaches, and other problems associated with sedentary lives spent in front of the TV, emotionally involved with their heroes.

So while the 'hook' has done its job, the fish was most willing to be caught.
I doubt that generation would ever change.
It is up to us much younger generation to not get hooked onto such shows and send a clear statement.
But are we doing that?
I think the answer is clear.
As long as KSG is sans shirt in a cringe-worthy scene, most don't seem to give damn.

Rabid fans will call and text the Channels and PHs if they want their heroes to behave in certain ways - come back from the dead, continue in the show if he is threatening to leave, etc. - but no one has ever bombarded the Channels or the PHs if the amount of negativity being glorified has become entirely unpalatable.
After all, if they wait just one more day or a week, KSG will bare his chest and ALL IS WELL!

And so another generation is reeled in by the channels and PH who know they'll never be out of work as long as they continue to churn out such crap.
The public (we) seems to thrive on it.

Why blame the PH?

Jayne

Totally agree with you. Soaps have become total addiction. There needs to be some sort of awareness for people.

you DO have a point buddy.
Yes KSG sans shirt and suddenly everything is ok.
Yes and also about public demands about continuing shows or behaving certain ways are right too. I felt QH caters to different kind of audience. Those who cannot digest Saas Bahu crap and tortures like me.
I had different expectations from QH.
Anyway looks like these TRP aunties enjoy these tortures hence the PH is trying to reach then as well. Yes Channel is important and I heard Zee TV is very fond of Ekta shows. No wonder PH is guided by them.

I agree, Trina.. It's been an increasing spiral of evil for months, with very little good to balance it out.. All the various evil plots of the numerous villains are still open, with no resolution of any of them in sight.. This is extreme! And the current tanu track is frankly disappointing, disgusting and totally unacceptable..

Yes, I've noticed this trend too.
No matter what people say about Tanveer not succeeding at her plans in most cases, she has. She has managed to ruin every wedding ceremony from the beginning, so she has won up to an extent.
And as far as Razia is concerned, she has won every single time.

I agree about the rape. It was tacky, unnecessary and should not have been shown the way it was. Briefly mentioning it would have been OK. Now that they've shown this "rape", I hope that they tackle the consequences of it in a sensible manner. That is, showing Asad's emotional trauma and Tanveer's punishment in the aftermath of the rape.
Also, I think it was disgusting they showed a rape/sexual assault scene just for the sake of entertainment. That's what makes this whole situation difficult to stomach. Rape is not entertaining.

The writers also seem to think that the only way to defeat evil is to do crazy bitchy deeds. Cue, Badi Bi.

Great post!
