Sony TV butts in; asks Chhanchhan producers to "rein in" their actors

4 min ago | TellychakkarTeam

If ever a show would be ranked just on the basis of media blitz then it would have to be Sony Entertainment Television's Chhanchhan. This Sanaya Irani project has dominated media headlines since the past week ever since lead actor Farhan Khan got replaced by Anuj Sachdeva.

Ironically this Optimystix Entertainment show has never raced ahead on the TRP charts ever since it started during the IPL. According to sources, this very expensive show is rating similarly to other serials which are less on money like Anamika and Khoobsurat.

It was a shocker for all when the channel and production house finally replaced lead actor Farhan blaming him for not getting the right chemistry with Sanaya thereby derailing the show.

Farhan instead of keeping quiet lost it and went to town blaming Sanaya for not cooperating with him. An angry Sanaya who normally never talks to the media also retorted in equal measure calling him a liar. The social media went crazy with everybody taking sides. Even other cast members (Charu Asopa) got into the fiasco lending support to Sanaya.

At first the channel kept quiet but seeing things going out of control, we hear that they gave a call to Producer Vipul D Shah and asked him to rein in his actors, lest the show suffers more damage.

An actor who did not want to be named said that he had been asked to keep quiet. But he apparently asked the production house, as to why they had not intervened when the drama first began. "The buck should have stopped with Farhan," the person confided in us.

Incidentally the production house had tried to offer a face saving device to Farhan by letting him claim that he had quit the show. However he did not relent forcing Optimystix to pull the plug on him, indicated one of our sources.

The channel's realization however belated, seems to make sense as the latest ratings have not shown any jump. This goes on to prove that all the mudslinging has not helped them at all.

We sent text messages to Producer Vipul Shah, Sanaya Irani and Sneha Rajani, Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, asking for a response, but they preferred to remain silent.

When we sent the same message to Anuj he replied, "Sorry, I have no idea about this."

Why I am not surprised to see that this article has been posted by TC.

This is not the first time a replacement has happened in a show and neither is the actor who has been replaced is established in the industry. The replacement was fully justified as he was a non-performer. What baffles me is the claim in this article that PH had allowed the actor to claim he has quit and the channel has intervened so late, when everything has calmed down.

Which goes on the prove once again the claims by the ex male lead were completely false. It's shocking that the PH and Sony didn't intervene at the right time and do the right thing.

An actor who did not want to be named said that he had been asked to keep quiet. But he apparently asked the production house, as to why they had not intervened when the drama first began. "The buck should have stopped with Farhan," the person confided in us. Totally agree with this.

So much fuss for replacement of a newcomer is indeed surprising. This goes on to prove once again that the ex male lead never got into the show based on talent.

The PH should have cleared the air right after the first interview came out. Why did they let this go this far? One word from them would have put an end to this blame game, Sanaya, Dheeraj & Charu would not have been dragged into this. The actors had to speak up because of the PH silence.

...Pathetic !! I am totally fade-up wid SONY/PH stand in this issue. in this Chhan Chhan controversy... they are behaving like Fools.

Why they didn't react first on Farhan's allegation...?? Still they are in silent mode. Farhan replacement rumors was not new for us but, what is the reason behind 1 month 'Yes-No' game...?? They can't handle a Big show in proper way...

Farhan selection in CC is still a mystery for all of us...how can he crack the 'Screen test'...??

I am glad to see that finally Mr.Model got a media supporter like TC. but,is he really deserve this attention...??

Isn't it a bit late now? The PH should have put an end to this when it had started!

Yes, I agree with what you are saying. I do hope the channel and PH has learned a lesson from this and I also hope that they understand that the viewers mainly wanted a replacement because the ex-ML was a non-performer and not because he was solely blamed for the trps. They need to tighten the script and the execution needs to be good as well. There are signs of improvement and aanya is good too.

Fans just want to move on now and focus on the show and Sanaya's work. It's just frustrating to see how a section of the media is still dragging the matter.

Sony's interference is a tad late after everything went down
as it says in the article it should have happened when Farhan released his first article

but thats what the media is good at and loves
controversy etc. to bring in people to read their article
sometimes add a little spice and your good to go

in all honesty if the media really wanted to after the the casts reply they could have left it not bring out another article again when people have moved on from the drama

agreeing with all of u...the ph must have acted in the first place before the situation gets worsed
i think the ph wanted to get publicity that's why they never even bothered about it but as they realised that things are getting worst they finally decided to react...
not only ph but medias should also be blammed for dragging the topic too much ...collecting interviews and creating fights

Out of all of this mess the one thing that everyone agrees on is that the PH and Channel were both negligent. The PH should have stepped up the moment Farhan gave his first TC interview and responded negating the need for Sanaya to have to defend her character. Perhaps like FK they too thought all publicity is good regardless of the fact that their lead actress was being publically maligned by the person to whom they gave a respectable out. So another truth is out regarding the 'I quit' statement. How many more lies of this lowlife are still waiting to come out. The PH gave FK a chance to leave respectfully and he thew it back in their faces - I hope all othe PH's amd channels are watching this situation and will remember the name Farhan Khan and avoid him like the plague so that we never have to see him again. I can't believe that Iactually wished him well for the future.
