The Missing Element in CC

Now that with the entry of Anuj Sachdeva we have awesome lead actors, I have been wondering what's missing in CC. Even though we have not had intense romance, based on the last few scenes I can tell that SI and AS are capable of creating impressive chemistry. For me, they certainly click together.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not sure how many of you have watched KavynAnjali, a starplus show few years ago. This is the only Indian television show that I can tell had extremely well-developed characters, perfect actors in each role, consistent and gripping plotline, profound script, lovely background score, etc. I started watching the show when it was midway and never missed an episode. Now that it's on Star Classics, I decided to watch the missed episodes but I ended up watching the entire show all over again - this is extremely surprising because I would never ever watch an Indian show twice. To make an off-topic remark: while watching Kavyanjali I also realized how badly written was one of the Indian shows I cherished in the recent past - IPKKND. Please note that I am talking in terms of a whole show not just the chemistry of its lead actors.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also figured that KA shares some significant elements in its plotline with CC. The war between Anjali and her mother-in-law was a central theme in KA. Even though the war between CC and Umabehn would be for different reasons, once again we'll see the face-offs between MIL and DIL. Like Umabehn, Kavya's mother Nitya has a dual face. She's the ideal mother and wife for the family but only few members are aware of her actual selfish motives. When I saw the scene between Manav and Umabehn on his marriage night where he stated that he can give up his life for her happiness, it reminded me of Kavya and his selfless love for his mom. Perhaps Kavya was a level above Manav but Manav is certainly taking the same path.

Like KA, CC too has perfect actors for almost every role now. They don't need to revamp the storyline to make it more interesting for the younger audience. The significant difference between the two in my opinion is that while in KA both the love story and the MIL-DIL war were equally central, CC's main focus will be on the battle as Sanaya stated in one of her interviews. They should show an intense love story between CC and Manav so that their separation in the future will have the desired impact.

I am not saying that they should recreate KA (I doubt that can happen cuz I believe even the makers of IPKKND did not hit that level). All I am saying is that the makers of CC should not sideline the love story in order to foreground the MIL-DIL clash.

In fact a profound love story can intensify the clash. Above all, a show is essentially a story like a novel and I highly doubt you'll find one central theme in any well-written literary piece.

I'd appreciate if you could share your views on this cuz I really want to know your opinion too.

I am not sure about this ... the central theme of the show is about the clash between two generations of feisty women. Diluting it with a love story might not be doing justice to either theme. Besides, Sanaya has already done two love stories back to back, and been successful in both ... it's time she did something different and gave it her full focus. and that is what she wants to do too. So I respect her decision to try something very different, and would like to see her succeed in this genre.

I wouldn't mind seeing Manav as a strong but silent support ... I don't even mind him getting good screen space ... but I want Sanaya aka Chhanchhan to be on centrestage. With the new Manav, we can already see the improvement in Manav's characterization ... and the love story already seems more real and believable. Earlier, viewers never connected with the love story at all. So now that problem is taken care of, I think the love story part should be there, but secondary to the main theme.

I haven't seen KavyaAnjali, so don't really have any idea about that show.

I understand where you're coming from and while the story wasn't really taking off I too was craving a stonger love angle than the the cvs were offering, thought it was strange because at the same time I didn't want to see Fk performing those scenes.
Now though I've changed my mind simply because we have a show in which every single cast member is talented and I'm looking froward to their interactions and sub plots within the frame of the main story...I think Manthan is going to be fun to watch. Sorry I haven't seen the KavyanAnjali show you mentioned so I can't make comparisons. I'm actually really looking forward to Sanaya in a totally different role and if the saas-bahu drama can be done effectively then I don't feel a need for the romance angle to be major. Of course there has to be some because ChanMan are a couple but I like the idea of a light story and don't want an angst filled separation so there would be no need to focus on the love. Manav already stood up to his mom for CC and so his love has been proven. I would prefer the story to be Manav supporting CC whilst keeping his mom's respect in place but not blindly following either. Once Sanaya signed the show and told us what the premise of the show is from that day I have been looking forward to the main storyline. Supriyaji has already had a chance to shine as the manipulative UB, she's had amazing scenes and dialogues and now I want to see Sanaya get the same. Awesome scenes and awesome dialogues. I also wouldn't be averse to a little bit of my resignation letter Khushi coming out but perhaps later when UB has really pushed the situation to the limit.
The makers have said that this is a lighter non regressive saas-bahu show and perhaps it will deal more with the characters and I hope the cv's will give each character more depth. Manav and UB have been very well defined but CC really hasn't yet..so far she' a sweet girl who stands up for what she believes in but I'd like to see her as more rounded and someone who does make mistakes.
I think this cast if supported well by hte creative team can give us such a product that we won't be looking for anything else.

agree with ur point.
I love their eye locks and romantic scenes.Actually it was only one but they did have the spark.I guess they'll give him more screen space,as it would be very upsetting for Anuj to be the dikra who just remains in the house like a show piece

Actually I am in two minds about this. From Sanaya's interviews it is clear that this show will be clash of two strong women who stick to their values and ideologies. I am glad that Sanaya is trying something other than a hard core love story. However, for me I want to see the character of Chhanchhan in a more central role and maturing from a happy girl to a more mellow and balanced woman. I hope they sensitively show the growth of this person as she faces challenges placed by UB and/ or circumstances without compromising on her dignity. In this journey there should be some give and take with other characters and some making mistakes and learning from them too. That will give both depth to Chhanchhan as well as many interesting scenes which Sanaya can pull off.
The love story need not be central but can run parallel to this Chhanchhan vs. UB battle, after all CC became bahu and came to the Borisagar house because of Manav. So, it has to be an important aspect of her life there. Chhanchhan's journey should involve handling of the various pulls and pushes on her relation with Manav and their growth as a couple.

Sanaya in a recent interview said that a bahu need not be all formal and shy with her husband, they should have an open and easy communication between them, would like to see this properly executed in this show.

I feel this an old wine in a new bottle. This bottle needs to be moulded in a sensitive and interesting way, and Chhanchhan should be in the center of it all. They will be addressing the same family and social issues other saas-bahu stories do but how Chhanchhan handles it can give this soap a fresh feel. Therefore, the execution of concepts and issues is very critical in this genre.
