Chapter 5 – Honeymoon

"Kya aap kabhi apni khud ki aankho se bahar ka nazara dekhte hain ya nahi ? " an irritated Kria asked ... As she walked backwards facing Rey ..who was busy clicking her pics and giving her 'n' number of instructions so that he could get a perfect pic of hers ..

They had come to Goa for a week as it was near Mumbai and moreover she wanted to go to a beach .. so they had settled for this 5 star beach resort ..

He stopped in his tracks confused .. " What do you mean ?"

"Hum 2 din se yahan aaye hue hain and aap bas camera ke lens mein se hi dekh rahe ho ... It looks as if aap glares nahi camera ki lens aankho pe pehne ho"

"But I want to capture all these moments with you and frame them ..I can't afford to miss this scenery .. this sunrise .. and above all you .." He said earnestly ..

She couldn't help but blush ..

"Ek baat kehna chahti hun , bura mat maniyega .." she composed herself and spoke ..

"Nahi nahi bolo"

"Aap toh Goa kai baar aaye hain .. You only told me with family , friends ... So yeh sab aapne dekha hai .. Nothing is new to you ..Hai na ?" she asked ..

He nodded .. "Except you" he smiled ..

"Yes that's precisely my point .." she raised her brows ..

He looked confused ..

"Hum ek saath pehli baar aaye hain .. Yeh jo time hum bita rahe hain .. It's to get to know each other .. to relax ..to enjoy each other's company ..."

He interupped her .. "Toh tumhe lagta hai main aisa nahi kar raha hun ?" he asked a bit surprised ..

"I know ki newly-wed couples ko bahut photos kheechne ka mann hota hai .. aaju baaju I can see all of them doing the same ..

Aap bhi iske peeche pade hai ki ghar ja ke hum photos dekhenge.. Enjoy karenge .. Yaadein taaza ho jayengi when we see these photos .. Sab thik hai ..even I would love some photos ..

but mera yeh man na hai ki .. yeh jo pal hum ek saath gujaar rahe hain .. Woh tab hi hamein yaad aayenge or humare chehre par muskuruhat aayegi jab inhe hum dil se mahsoos karenge .. "

He looked at her for a long moment ...

"Ok tell me aap ghar par kitne baar apne purane photos dekhte hain ?"

"Not much .." He was thoughtful .. "They are on my laptop only .. I upload it on social networking sites for my friends to see that's it ... then as a family everyone sees it .. bas .. may be sometime I am alone I might want to re-visit them .. but not much "

"Exactly ,hum photos baad mein bhi kheech sakte hain "
"So ...Iss baar kuch alag karein" she asked excitedly ..

"Hmm"

She puts the camera in his backpack ..
"Apne joote utariye ..."

"Kyon ?"

"Uffo. .. Utariye aur apne left hand mein pakidiye.." she made an irritating sound because he was asking such silly question ...

Then she held his right hand with her left hand and her sandals in her other hand ..

"Udhar dekhiye..."

And they walked bare footed on the soft cool sand watching the sun rise from the ocean ...

"Mujhe beaches bahut passand hai but main jyada nahi aayi hun aisi jagah per ... "She took in the fresh air and whispered smiling at the half peeping sun ..

Rey looked at the sea .. Felt the cool breeze .. he looked at the beautiful orange ball rising slowly .. and smiled .. Then he looked at their fingers intertwined ... Then slowly he looked at her .. She looked so lovely ... a simple purple top with loose white casual trousers .. her bangles making the jingling sound and just her natural self ..

Actually she made the morning much more beautiful and refreshing with her shy smile .. The light pink blush on her cheeks ..her silky hair playing with the wind ...

Yes he had the urge to capture this picture perfect moment but then he remembered her words and decided to just experience this new feeling ... The soothing feeling of being with her ...

After a while she stopped .. Rey looked at her a bit confused ...

She turned and said " peeche dekheyi aur mujhe batayiye ki kya nazar aa raha hai "

Rey looked at the sand she was pointing .. He could see their foot prints clearly .. He walked a bit from the side and observed their 2 sets of footprints carefully ..

First he didn't understand anything .. they were footprints .. so what's so great about them .. and then something struck him ..

" When we started the footprints were at a distance .. Sometimes yours were ahead of mine " then he paused .. " after I closed my camera , they were beside each other and somewhere they even got intermingled .. At one point your tiny foot print was over mine .. " he smiled ..
He just loved the pattern ...
Then he looked at her .. She was smiling ..

Kria had never thought that Rey would feel and say the exact words and thoughts which she had in her mind ..

" Aren't these like us ?" she smiled whole heartedly looking at their footprints ..

"Yes very much ... "

He suddenly came close to her and held her hands .. "Thanks .. " He had to admit he would never have even noticed this ...

She lowered her gaze for a moment and said softly …" Kuch pal bas humare hone chahiye .. kuch baatein bas humare beech mein hi raheni chahiye ..I would really not like to share with anyone else .. "and she looked up to meet his eyes ..

He looked in her eyes and understood what she meant ...

He came forward and pulled her gently in his arms ...
She smiled and wound her arms around his waist ...

After a while "But , humare beech mein aisa kuch hua hi nahi hai , which you would not want to share with anyone else .." He whispered naughtily in her ears ..
He could feel the sharp sucking of her breath and even her ears had turned red this time and without even looking at her he was sure she must have bit her lower lip ...

"Come let's go to the disco which is there in this hotel "

Kria was combing her hair as they were planning to go out in the evening .. But when she heard Rey's plan she tensed ... She had thought of something else ...

"Kya hua ?" he asked as he saw her twisting her hair uneasily ..

"Rey actually I don't like the loud music and the commotion ..the crowd ... " She said a bit uncertainly ..

"Oh ok .. " Rey said simply ..

"Aapko disc jana bahut passand hai ?" she immediately asked .. not wanting to spoil his mood ..

"Actually I wanted to go with you .. I agree the atmosphere is different .. I mean the loud music .. the energy .. its lively .. yes I like it .. but its fine .. we can go some other time .. So what do you want to do ?"

"The hotel has a live orchestra today .. Wahan chalein .. Dinner bhi ho jayega ... "

"Ok .. Chalo"

"Aap kya lenge ?" Kria asked seeing the menu ..

Rey's eyes almost popped out when he saw Kria checking the drinks menu .. He himself had kept it aside thinking that she might not like it if he drank ..

"U drink ?" He almost spluttered unbelievingly ...

"Actually I don't like much .. but I have tasted everything as papa ke clients ki party raheti hain na ... of everything my preference comes close to white wine .. Soothing and smooth " she said honestly ..

He knew he must have been looking like a fool .. But he had just assumed that she may never have tasted just by her looks and her simplicity ...
He felt so stupid ..

"Aapko laga ki mujhe kuch malum nahi hoga na iske baare mein ?" she asked mockingly ..

He gave a sheepish grin that she had caught him ..

"Even I will have the same " he said ... Making a strict mental note not to assume anything about her ...

As their starters were served Rey noticed that Kria was very much engrossed in the song which the band was singing .. She was humming no almost singing softly along with them ... And he could see her being lost in some thoughts ...

"Tumhe yeh gaana bahut pasand hai " he asked bringing her back to the present ..

"Hmm " she spoke in an inaudible voice ,still looking at the band .. He could almost feel her eyes being moist ...

"Yeh toh bahut purana song hai.. So u like old songs haan ?" he tried to get her involved in the conversation ..

"Actually yeh papa ka favorite song tha .. He used to sing it for mumma ..."She said quietly ...

He kept his hand over hers and gave a gentle squeeze...

"So tum mere liye yeh gaao na .."

She almost jumped in her seat

"What .. Nahi .. Nahi " she stammered

But Rey had already gestured the manager to come to their table ...
He told him that his wife would like to sing this song ...

The manager was more than happy as they always wanted their customers to enjoy and participate and share their happiness with others …

Kria felt embarrassed and a bit nervous standing with the mike in her hand ...

The singer of the band smiled at her ... "You start we will join you ..." she encouraged her ..

Kria looked at Rey and he kept his hand on his heart and mouthed "please for me ..."

Kria couldn't help but smile at him and she took a deep breath and started ...

She just kept looking at Rey all the while when she sang the song ...She didn't know why but she just couldn't take her eyes off him ..

He in turn had never thought that her voice could be so melodious ...
His lips adorned a smile unknown to him and his eyes stung with tears as he saw Kria singing every word just for him ...
Her eyes just for him ...
He had never felt so special before ...
He could sense what she must be feeling .. She had seen her parents love for each other even though it was for a few years not life long ... But it must have been so strong, so true that he knew she had long been wishing for something like that from her life partner ...

He was not sure what he exactly felt for her ... Yes he liked her .. He cared for her ... He had immense respect for her ... He loved talking to her .. he was proud of her thoughts and now somewhere a strange feeling was creeping in his heart ... A feeling which was making his heart beat faster ... A sensation which made him smile and cry at the same time ...
He wondered if this was somewhere close to what it's called .. Is this what love is ...
He had vowed to be by her side all the time .. To take care of her .. Make her happy ... These were his marriage vows .. At that time he had never thought much about love ..
When he had seen her photo and read her marriage profile, he genuinely felt that he wanted to settle in life with this girl .. and had gone ahead with that decision ..

He now wondered if he would have vowed differently if he had been in love with her ?

Would he able to give her what she is seeking ?

When she ended the song , there was a thunderous applause for her which brought back Rey from his trance ..

"It was beautiful .. just mesmerizing .. " he complimented her genuinely ..

As they finished their dinner , the manager requested them to proceed to the dance floor as all the other couples too were enjoying themselves ..

As the orchestra played slow sweet soulful melodious love songs , the lights dimmed and Rey gently held Kria close to himself .. she kept her hands on his shoulders and they both smiled and smoothly swayed to the music ..

As Kria looked at her hands which were placed her husband's broad chest .. and his holding her perfectly .. confidently around her back .. a soft blush crept on her cheeks as she thought of the few days that she had spent with him ..

In these few days they had come pretty close to each other .. they had talked about their childhood .. their earlier life .. their funny experiences .. their triumphs in life .. their learning's from the hurt they had faced .. their fears.. their aims in life ..their dreams ..

They were learning to trust each other .. feeling happy in finding out what little things would please the other .. trying to get into a comfort zone with each other ..

From two strangers they had come a long way .. they could safely call their relationship now getting stronger with this new bond of friendship ..

"Kria .. " he whispered ..

"Hmm"

"These were the best days of my life till now .. " he smiled as Kria's hands moved a bit up and she curled then around his neck and placed her head on his chest ..

"Even mine " she replied softly ..

"I am really happy with my decision " he said and kissed her hair ..

She understood what he meant .. she looked up to meet his gaze .. her smile was her answer .. he bend down a bit and kissed her forehead ..

They both closed their eyes to enjoy their moment ..

"Yeh kaisa hai Vicky ke liye ?" she picked up a cool t-shirt for her brother in law from the hotel boutique on their last day of their stay ..

"Why are you buying something for him ?" asked an amazed Rey ..

"I am buying for everyone .. Ma ke liye .. Dad ke liye .. aur haan Papa and Buaji ke liye bhi " she said ..

"But .. there is no need .."

"But .. I want to .. kitna mazza ataa hai sabke liye gifts khareedna .. " she insisted ..

Rey started laughing … "Now you are behaving just like a typical biwi " he teased ..

"Toh .. hun main aapki biwi .." her eyes widened as she answered him back ..

"I mean .. I didn't mean it that way .. "

"Then what did you mean .. "

"See .. when I or Vicky go anywhere for vacation .. we never buy gifts .. we have never done that before .. "

"That's because aap ladke ho .. you can't think of such things .. " she said a bit angrily ..

He smiled at her .. He realized suddenly he was looking at the woman who was not just married to him .. but she was now a family member .. she was a part of his family ..

He couldn't help being proud of her .. she was just like how his mom was .. thoughtful about others and caring ..

He couldn't imagine himself being like her ..

He wondered how newly married girls adapt to their surroundings so quickly ..

He put his arm around her shoulder only to receive a shocked glare ..

"Sorry .. chalo .. we will buy gifts for everyone .. " he gently squeezed her upper arm and made a apologizing face .. In no time she relented and happily went about with her shopping ..
