SS: Unexpected part 14

Their last day in Istanbul was an emotional one for many. Khushi left her hotel room with a heavy heart since she had gotten used to the place. As she went out, she saw the usual people walking down the street and the kids playing around the corner. She would miss them. In their last few minutes as they waited for the coach bus to take them to the airport, Khushi took in the pleasant feeling of the sun and the soft breeze that was always present. She would definitely miss that, too.

She looked down at her hand when she felt something tickling it. It was Arnav trying to take her bag from her and although she refused, he ignored her plea and took it anyway throwing the duffel bag over his shoulder with his on the other shoulder while their suitcases sat next to them on the ground.

"Will someone come to pick you up when we get there?" Arnav asked and Khushi nodded her head positively. "Papa and amma. Their only daughter left to another country for two weeks, don't you think they'd care?"

Arnav pretended to frown. "No one is going to be picking me up."

"No?" Khushi asked, surprised that that was even a possibility considering he always talked about his close relationship with his family.

His expression changed to an amused one. "Excuse me, I am the greatest joy to my family! I can just imagine how much they've been crying for my in the past couple of weeks." He said boastfully making Khushi roll her eyes.

"Jokes aside, when do you want to meet them?" He asked quietly so others don't hear. Khushi gave him a sarcastic grin and shook her head. "Never."

"Why not?"

"Arnav, my family consists of only my mother and father, and by the sounds of it, you have a big family! I'm not good in big crowds."

"We're not that big of a family! We're only eight people!"

Khushi gaped at him. "Arnav! That's five more people than what I'm used to! Just let it go."

He tried to convince her but she never gave him the chance. The bus came and the headed to the airport. Arnav switched his seat with a kind young woman to sit next to Khushi and spent the entire flight from Istanbul to Dubai teasing her and essentially driving her insane.

When they got on their last flight to Delhi, Khushi was sitting in her spot and Arnav came around to ask for a change of seats to the old man next to her, but the old man was a grouchy one indeed who was very adamant on staying in his assigned place.

"But sir, please, she's my girlfriend," Arnav persisted and Khushi's eyes widened at the use of that word just because he'd never said it himself. But as cute as it was, she had listened to enough of his silly jokes from the last flight. The man looked at her curiously. "Is it true? Are you his girlfriend?"

Khushi looked at Arnav with a conniving smirk then back at the old man. "I'm not his girlfriend. He's been running after me for a long time but what to do? When there's no chemistry; there's no chemistry." She said with the shrug of her shoulders and watched happily as Arnav was just growing with rage.

"Young man, I think you heard what this lady said. She doesn't like you!" He said piteously while Arnav stood there dumbstruck. He closed his open jaw and gave Khushi a hard stare before he proceeded to his seat.

Khushi sat back in her chair with a sly smile on her face when she noticed the man talking to her, but more like whispering. "He really does like you! Maybe you can give him a chance?"

She gave a wide smile at the sweet man whom she thought was originally a grumpy one, and nodded her head with a wink of the eye. "I'll see what I can do."

When they landed and everyone scattered to get their luggages, Khushi went up to an annoyed Arnav. "How was your seat?" She said and tried to hide her smile.

"Oh great! Really got a few moments to munch down on Monica. It was a great reunion I must say," he said as a joke because he was annoyed with the fact that she teased him that way on the plane but all signs of amusement washed away from Khushi's face. "You're a real sick jerk." She said in a state of anger and walked away from him, handling her luggages on her own.

Arnav sighed and cursed himself for making such a silly joke. He went up to her to apologize but she kept giving him the cold shoulder. "I need you to meet someone," he said though Khushi's lips never relaxed from their pursed form.

"Khushi, it's Shanaya! I told her you'd meet her."

"You shouldn't lie to kids!" She spat and grabbed her suitcase and her small duffel bag but before leaving, Arnav tried to speak her out of her fury. "Khushi, it was a joke! You shouldn't be surprised - I say stupid things all the time!" He tried to defend himself but it didn't work as she just shook her head in disappointment and left.

It wasn't a minute later that he was walking behind her again. He wasn't following her, they just ended up like that since they were coming from the international flights customs area.

Khushi was slightly startled when she saw a little girl run past her in lightening speed and when she looked behind her she saw that it was Shanaya! Arnav grabbed onto her and threw her in the air and he caught her again and she hugged him tight from around the neck.

Arnav made eye contact with Khushi who was still a little dazed from the scene that occurred in front of her eyes. "You talked to the princess right?" Khushi heard Shananya ask Arnav and he nodded his head with a smile. "I did and guess what? She's going to be coming to our home in a couple days."

Shanaya gasped and clamped her hands over her mouth while her eyes grew wider and wider. Arnav turned his attention to Khushi again and noticed how she was doing nothing else but staring at him. He bobbed his eyebrows at her making her shake out of her stupor. She turned around and walked away until she was no longer in his sight.

Arnav looked back at Shanaya and nuzzled her neck teasingly as she bent herself to the side from the ticklish feeling and giggles. He walked up to his family and greeted them all before they all got their car and left.

He held Shanaya's tiny hand in his during the car ride and looked out the window while deep in thought. He admitted it was time that he stop making jokes that would only get him in trouble and start being more serious with Khushi. And serious it was for him. So serious that when he looked down next to him at a smiling Shanaya with her deep dimples his only thought was, 'The princess will come to our place one day, Shanu. And when she comes, I'll make our home her palace. Wada hai mera.'

Please Read: Hi all! I know this part was short and kinda meaningless (until the last part 😉) but yeah it's because it's building up to the next part which is also the last part. I am actually going to stop writing for awhile (let's see if that's possible) for personal reasons. Nothing too serious: I would just like to use the time I take to write parts for stories for other stuff. Knowing me, I probably will not be absent from writing for too long but just so you all know, I won't be around too much after the last part <<Hoping that at least one person cares. 😆

Anyway, despite my absence or not, this story wouldn't have gone on for much longer since it is an ss. But I will end it on a good note so that's all that's important!! << Now everyone scream Yayy! haha
