Sharmindagi, did you say?

I'm truly horrified that Shiv was made to say J saved Sanchi from "zindagi bhar ki Sharmanindagi" I thought after all the rape discussions we have had nationally, a consensus has been reached that rape victims are not to be treated as women who have lost their izzat or honour The people who are beizzat or besharam are the rapists or those attempting to rape. Why should the victim feel shame/sharmindagi?

There are many instances where this serial reinforces patriarchal values, so IAS or not, the charecters in this serial are expected to say such things.

In fact, there was outrage when some politicians described the South Delhi rape victim as a "zinda laash". She wanted to live. She didn't see herself as a laash or beizzat. She died because of her injuries not because she had lost her honour. An IAS officer being made to mouth the equivalent of "uski izzat lut gayee" in this day and age is the real shame. BV writers shd be aware of the gender -sensitive changes sweeping the country. In retrospect I think this is what Sid tweeted about. It is totally out of character for Shiv to say this.

Very nice analysis. If CVs had been so exclusive they would not have shown Jagya turning mahaan and sanchi getting space. I may be biased because i liked shiv's charecter from Day one.

it may sound harsh but Shiv was saying in context of society Jagaya saved Sanchi from sharmandigi from society unfortunately the societies all over the world a rape victim woman is treated more like trash , being made to feel ashamed of , either no one gives one damn to her and put shame on her counting it her fault or either if they sympathize with her they present her rape as a spicy story which make her feel more ashamed of herself Though there is none of her fault

BV has lost all logic since Jagya redemption track has started, they are going against everything they stood for by showing Jagya as mahaan, just to keep the serial going they are showing nonsense, the director really needs to stop this irritating Saanchi track...she is a bad actress and gets on your nerves...logically BV should have ended gracefully with Anandi's wedding...these days it has become a drag... Anandi was better off in Jaitsar..they have demoted her from Sarpanch to chai wali ...all she does in Udaipur is serve chai and snacks...pathetic...what happened to the fiery anandi who stood for causes...does this mean that once you are married to a good guy ...your ambitions go down the drain...

jagya is a man who talk about women respect who himself does not know how to respect women...what he did with anandi i cannot forget
