My twitter account was doing crazy numbers on me. I was checking the news channels and I see tweet after tweet of nothing less than a war cry - IPKKND Lives Forever. Now, where I am, no one lives forever and if they did they'd certainly look very wrinkly, old and long in the tooth. Do I want anything to live forever?
That got me thinking, When IPK ended it was a rude shock to many of us. We wanted option A but got left with option B. As the author of True Blood will attest, killing Sookie Stackhouse was not the unkindest thing she suffered, the fan outrage and threats over her life had her run to live incognito until the hysteria died down. We IPK fans are no less. Yet, the exercise of watching, commenting, making fun of the show seems distant and pointless now, Or is it?
To this show, I am eternally grateful for one reason - it gave me some solidly good friends. Do I want IPKKND all over again? A true fan worries about the quality of sequel for I want to leave with a good taste in my mouth, with fond memories, with the satisfaction that things finished just right. Yet, we know it didn't. In many ways, we were left gasping and yearning for more and the fire never really died. Aided by constant activity on the forum, many of us simply could not let it go. So is it any surprise that we are still here, bound by our love affair with some virtual and a few real characters of this show?
Whats the point of my post? There is no point, really. Its a wet Thursday and I have a few minutes to spare and it seemed only right to commemorate a show that was a constant source of entertainment for a full year. We are all here, still, and the memories live within us.
As Khushi famously said - Hum bhi apse I love you dammit. And that, my friends, is the whole point.
