Johar is known as " Maha sati or Masti" in Karnataka. I have not read much about Kampli war but I have read in detail about the time when Hiderali's army attacked the Chitradurga fort during Madkari Nayaka's times and 2 of his own people spoiled their (nayak's ) Ammunition, his second wife comes out bravely and apply tilak on her husbands head and assures him that she and elder sister (his first wife) will wait for him in the threshoulds of Heaven and so will the wives of their soldires. She puts it such a jovial and yet possessive way that " They will wait for them in gates of the heaven and will not let the apsaras of the heaven touch them" The ponds are named after those sisters as Akka (elder sister ), thangi (younger sister ponds in which they jumped with all their suhagan symbols.
