Writer and columnist Shobha De had a different perspective on Jiah Khan's tragic suicide case. In herblog, Shobha stresses on the big bad world of Bollywood and how one needs to have nerves of steel to survive here.

Comparing London-based Jiah to London-based Katrina Kaif, she says, "Jiah was an outsider – a London girl trying her luck in the closed, incestuous world of Bollywood. Yes, she had got her dream break. And two other big banner films with top stars like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. But after that? Jiah languished on the sidelines for three years. Perhaps she simply didn't fit in. And unlike another London girl (Katrina Kaif), Jiah didn't meet a patron saint called Salman Khan, either. Had that happened, she'd still be alive. And successful to boot.

Now, that is a unique take on the matter. What are your thoughts on this? Would things have turned out differently for Jiah had Salman Khan ventured to help her out? Did Katrina make it big only with Salman's help?

Of course katrina got films due to salman khan. Is she wasn't dating or been friends with him, no one had casted her.

No Jiah was mentally sick and depressed. She needed treatment and counselling not a sugar daddy.

Shobha De should just stop talking,she obviously doesn't think already. What an idiot.

I thought Jiah was having some boyfriend issues and had severe depression or something, how does that even relate to Salman helping Katrina in her early career? :S

Bollywood wasn't the only reason Jiah committed suicide. She was going through depression and mental issues too so Shobhaa De's comment is invalid.

I think De might be on to something here. Kaif and her fans will never accept it but the truth is, Salman is the main reason she is where she is today. If he hadn't taken her under his wing, she'd have ended up doing various versions of Boom as she lacks acting skills and expressions. Its ironic how she makes a big deal about her personal life these days but when she started dating Salman she would go to events with him and had no problem being photographed. I guess she wanted to be 'seen' with him back then.

In reality, failed career is probably one of the many reasons why Jiah committed suicide. Depressed people have a lot of issues. But maybe if she'd met someone like Salman things would have turned out differently. We'll never know. Salman can't mentor every girl who shows up with hopes of making it in Bollywood.

Thats ridiculous. Next they'll say having a boyfirend/husband like "Lord Ram" woudl have saved her too. 🤪 The bottom line is that she had mental problems and she wasnt helped in time to save her life.
