I am just catching up on my saved episodes after my exam. They keep on saying that Rubal wanted Kaira to get married ASAP so he could get all the property. Now the thing is I am not from India so my question is once the girl gets married doesn't she have any rights to her fathers property?

Please it would be nice if someone would just clarify this for me. It's always good to gain some knowledge.

Hi, I too am not Indian but after having watched few shows and also from having some Indian friends, I think it also depends on the family'

Some traditional ones give everything to the sons so it will be kept in the family as daughters marry out and some, more progressive and modern, think daughters are entitled to their shares just as well as the sons.

Just as the British Aristocracy has rules of primogeniture, so does India I guess.

It's ok just thought it might be a good topic to discuss. Especially as other soaps do give property to their married daughters.

Let's wait and see if any Indians come along to answer our question.😉

actually now a days our law gives equal rights to daughters in their property if they are unmarried but after getting married and in absence of a lawful will it becomes a bit difficult for the daughter! Though am not completely sure abt this but this is what I know and yeah true it depend on the kind of families as well!

Legally both daughters and sons have equal rights on property. Practically what happens is that when a girl gets married she's given certain jewelry, cash, business shares, residential property (as per family economic status) and all that is counted towards the girl's share in parental property.

Most often what happens is that girls get married into equally affluent families so they willingly forego their share of parental property because they along with their husband are going to inherit the property from his parents. Most often girls opt for small keepsake jewelry or maybe a small falt or something and do not demand large shares.

Some girls and their husbands whether affluent or not do not want to take financial assistance from girls' parents - like Harish and Avantika - who renounced all shares and rights in favor of her brother.

Rubel had actually hoped that once Kaira gets married he would be able to strike a deal with Manan getting him to influence Kaira to renounce all her rights - in lieu of which he would give Manan a small stake.

Nowadays both sons and daughters are given equal rights. Now the reason why Rubel was wanting Kaira to get married, (I think) because if she is not right there she will not know what is happening and so Rubel will not have to give her any explanations and will not have to give her a share in the property.
