Prachi Desai Is Balaji’s New Blue-eyed!

It's a known fact in the television industry that a powerhouse like Balaji can make or break stars overnight. And times have proved that any actor who's parted ways with the prestigious production house has met with a disastrous fate.

Of late, Natassha or Anita Hassandani's departure from Balaji has raised quite an eyebrow, as the young actress was once Ektaa's blue-eyed prodigy. Whether the failure of Ekta Kapoor's magnum opus Kavyanjali is the reason behind her sudden exit from the hallowed precincts of the Balaji camp or personal differences with Ekta herself or her love affair with co-star Eijaz Khan, well, it's hard to tell. But surely, the most affected with this development is Anita herself, who has now moved to doing films down South.

So what caused the strain in the relationship between the production house and their favourite star? Obviously, Kavyanjali's failure is one of the primary reasons as Balaji had lot of stakes riding on it. With so much money at risk, they had expected it to do a roaring run but the TRPs fizzled out. There are some who also claim that Anita's relationship with co-star Eijaz Khan was also one of the reasons.

Meanwhile, the new blue-eyed girl to take Anita's place is Prachi Desai who's hogging all the attention these days on the idiot box as Bani of Kasam Se, Ekta's latest and talked-about venture. Ekta is promoting Prachi now and has even gone to the extent of calling Prachi her "adopted daughter." Balaji even celebrated Prachi's 18th birthday recently with much aplomb; a privilege that was exclusive only to Anita until some time back.

As Anita Hassandani's fate hangs in balance, one wonders where she would go from here. Will she be content with regional films? Or will Balaji give her another chance if and when she comes back?
