Changing the ML is not the solution but it is a START. There are not one, but many things wrong with the show and they need to start somewhere to reform. Now that Farhan is out, they can start making gradual changes to the storyline and see what does and doesn't work for the audience. But before, people were solely blaming Farhan and saying that he's the reason. Now that we'll have a good actor (hopefully) in the show, they'll be able to focus on the other aspects that are bringing the show down (the story).

The male lead isn't the sole reason for the show not doing well but its one of the reasons.
Unfortunately for Farhan he debuted against one of the best actors on TV so his flaws and lack of experience showed perhaps more than if he had debuted in another role where he wasn't under the spotlight so much.
Plus it didn't help that there was absolutely no chemistry between Sanaya and him and the romantic scenes were such a let down.
Normally most shows go through ups and downs but even when a storyline dips in a show the leads can carry it through. Examples are IPK, QH, SC where sometimes the episodes do drag but people still watch because of the leads are so compelling.
Yes, CC needs to improve in other departments too but hopefully by bringing in an actor who has chemistry with Sanaya and who can act will bring back some of the audience that they had lost (like myself) and then hopefully other things will improve too.
