What you say is true, Gisel! JKR being not an Indian has no societal pressure. What happened between laxman-TPS-Bhuvana would have been totally different had they lived in West.
But then the director very badly degraded the character of TPS. What was the need for TPS to go back to Laxman? She could have stayed all alone or even have married another person. Even Bhuvana felt insecure because TPS didn't marry again. Laxman needn't have felt insecure because MM married again. And then Laxman coolly saying both TPS and Bhuvana could share him, how painful it would be for both?
As far Prabha, blaming his mother for what he did doesn't hold logic. Once married, his duty is to understand his wife and find her feelings with gentleness and tenderness. He has to know Deepa is a person of good character and also that VR is a nice gentleman based on what he saw about them before marriage. Of course, if at all Deepa behaved like his mom, all that he could understand is Deepa is not worth him! And neither is Kanakku a person who could behave like what his father did. Kanakku as we see is a nice gentleman and an understanding person. All that I like to see is no more degradation of any more character!
