Is Drasti dhami really a talented actress? What talent has she exhibited by far n where? So far she has done only crappy shows as Geet n MB where she is playing same roles to some extent. Talented she would be when she chooses to do completely different role not like Geet n Madhubala. Also, she is not that gorgeous she could be made "lead actress" in Bollywood movies. What she deserves is to get maid role.

She played a fun, bubbly Punjabi girl called Muskaan in DMG. And then she played a very shy, young girl who comes from an orthodox family in Geet. I don't watch Madhubala but I'm pretty sure they're not the same characters. She's definitely a talented actress. And really, how many of the young 20-something model or young starlets that enter Bollywood act well? Compared to them, Dhrashti definitely knows how to act.

This forum is representative of how TV actors are ridiculed for giving Bollywood even a thought. Their aspirations are mostly considered a matter of joke and those in support of TV actors are generally dubbed as "phankhis" even if they are providing sane arguments in counter.

A star son or a really dishy looking model's wooden performance is considered to be brilliant for a newcomer, while at the same time questions are raised as to why a particular TV actor is even getting film with his "plain face and ordinary acting". The actors with connections are given a million chances to grow through the various debuts they make, while TV actors are dubbed as "not fit for films" even before their films release!

While there are innumerable articles on these models and star-sons on how nice they are to fans, their gym routines and other blah-blah stuff, just a bunch of articles on a TV actor makes members go frenzy as to how his PR is going overdrive.

Nobody is asking anyone to accept every tom, dick or harry but i believe there should be little more respect for anyone who wants to give it a shot to live his/her dreams. A person might not be the next Shakespeare, but that should not stop him from learning and improving in the course of his attempts to succeed as a writer.

Speaking about outside this forum, I think one major hindrance for TV actors is that most of them belong to middle class families and are not really in the elite club for which Bollywood is known for. You got to be born with a silver spoon to match the lifestyle of the stars to get an opportunity to mingle with them. No matter how much one denies about camps existing in Bollywood, the fact is that they do. This is mostly where outsiders including TV actors fall short...Kangana Ranaut is still not invited to the "real" stars parties.

You're right there. Madhubala too is very different from Geet. She plays a strong and humble woman born in Mumbai. A lot of our Television stars know how to act.

Yes! I see so much of this on the forum. I hate to bring Barun Sobti into this but he's a good example of someone who's movie hasn't released yet but gets dismissed quite easily here. I'm not saying he's an amazing actor, but I don't see how someone can write him off without even seeing his movie! Abhishek Bachchan went through more flops than hits but he's still considered to be an A-list actor today.
