Also aren't films with big ROI low budget films

I have hard time believing sholay had small budget

Didn't it star all the big actors of that era ? 😕

Salaries alone must've been through the roof

I don't know how I feel about this. While on one hand, I'm glad that the audience is giving a chance to newcomers who weren't touted as the "next big superstar" since the day they were born, I also wasn't a huge fan of the film. After listening to the music, I was extremely excited about watching this but the acting, screenplay, and story all left me very disappointed. WHY I was disappointed is another story and I won't get into that. But I guess I'm just not sure if Aashiqui 2 really deserves all the accolades it's getting. There are much better films out there.

Either way, congratulations to the makers and actors. I just hope this doesn't set the bar for mediocre cinema.

AASHIQUI 2 Crosses 100 Cr Gross And 76 Cr Nett After 5th Week

"Aashiqui 2" proved to be the dark horse at box office. Film surprised all with consistent collection over 4 weeks and managed to make at least 7 times profit from its investment.

Film collected further 3.70 cr nett approx in 5th week taking total 5 week collection to 76.50 cr nett. This is mind blowing number for a film made for 9 cr. Film performed very well in central and north India.

Film will finish with 78 cr nett lifetime collection and about 105 cr gross number as film is left with very few screens after release of YJHD. This is the best trending film at box office after "3 Idiots" in this century. This is a big achievement for such a small film.

I hate the number game but I'm really happy this movie's doing well without any Khan and item songs with ridiculous lyrics. Need to watch this now!

Yes, of course money is important. But so much of our life is spent reducing everything to its monetary value. And art in the truest sense should not be attached to something materialistic. But of course the audience will only be satisfied when they get their money's worth.
