Even though Asad continues to be the emotionally blind , sentimentally driven jackass whose use of brains is limited to architectural plans and his life revolving around heart-thinking ( i have always said that Zoe is the brain in this relationship) - there is a definite change or rather an evolving change in him. And its only for Zoe. 5-6 months ago , in a similar situation as today, when Asad is caught between the devil and his darling doll, and the doll has no way to prove that she is right , the devil being a Razberry nominated actress, Asad would have literally BLOWN the living daylights out of Zoe. Scream.Howl.Judge.Question her upbringing , background and label her a total waste of life. It has always been easy for him - shut out people instead of understanding them.
But with his CURRENT handling of the cold war between Zoe and that bloody Makkhanwaali ( when will TRP aunties start hating her, man?) - you can't help but notice that even though he stays as rigid and opaque as he was , his approach and handling of Zoe is showing a sea change.
Today, as righteous and right our girl is, she had no way to prove to Asad that his Makhhanwaali was actually contaminated cheddar cheese. She was accusing and blaming that BCA and she had no back up of proofs. Dilshoo and Tamaatar were taking a lifetime to understand that what just happened exactly. And Asad , standing between the devil and the doll was just looking at Zoe. He patiently and unbelievably spoke to her in a calm and controlled tone - trying to end the matter there and then. When Zoe continues her verbal slapathon for Tannu , Asad tries to tell Zoe that all this is baseless because there are no proofs in front of us - you have them. But tell me, where are they? Asad asked her again and again but what could have Zoe said when she herself didn't know that BCA had proven a bigger vixen than she thought. Asad was not angry or his usual holler-wolf avatar on her. He was confused and he was disappointed. And of course, Tannu's 20 liters of glycerine added to it.
Still, my favourite scene had to be the 'Maafi Maangiye' scene with AsYa , Dilshoo and BCA. No, not because i have a sudden love lost for that burn-stickers-ki-dukaan - its because i liked the 'angst' i saw between Asad and Zoe and how Dilshoo tried to buffer the situation.
There was no aggression or blind bashing in the scene. Asad came to Zoe and he simply asked Zoe that he wants her to say 'sorry' to BCA and be done with it. No accusing , bashing , howling and screaming - a calm and controlled order. Somewhere , he knew that Zoe will not say no. And Zoe just looks at him with angst-ridden questioning eyes. Asad , totally driven by the situation whose reins are in BCA's hands tries to put his best foot forward - he explains to Zoe that she is a part of this house , this world and the duty to love and respect friends extends to her as well. Just say sorry to Tannu and get it over with. Zoe doesn't rebel, retaliate and howl back as usual - she simply throws in the sarcasm at him via Dilshoo. Fine, if you want me to say sorry , i will go and say sorry to her. The look that they both exchange as Zoe passes by him highlights emotional angst - where they both clearly hate the situation they are in.
The moment a tearful Zoe says 'sorry' to that Veeraana-Ki-Bhootni , Asad closes his eyes and you really can't say why. Was it because Zoe listened to him and said sorry to BCA? Was it because he didn't like the sound of sorry from Zoe's mouth to that Dalda ghee waali? Was it because he was relieved that his best fiend sorry best friend and his soulmate were back in their comfort zones via truce? Who knows.
Maybe am the odd one out but i LOVED the sorry scene. It showed Asad and Zoe on another level even though sticking to their original personalities.I am unhappy that Asad made Zoe say sorry to BCA. But whatever i saw between them with Asad handling Zoe calmly , saying it openly that she is a part of the fold and his face when Zoe said sorry was something. A normal Zoe would rather die than say sorry to anyone. But she said to today to BCA, knowing that BCA is a vixen and knowing that Asad is misguided and wrong. Only because of Asad and for Asad.
Coming to the last scene between Dilshoo and Zoe, all i can say is that Dilshoo was not trying to justify Asad. She can't. Nobody can justify emotional people because logistics simply don't work there. But she did have a point. Asad does not want any bad blood between his love and his friend. But what does Asad know that there is no bad blood, there is no sensitive situation. BCA is running a one woman show in his house.
Anyway, dear Asad , ghar ka hissa bolnaa nahiin, maanna bhi padta hai. Aur gharwaalon pe yakeen kiyaa jaata hai.
Dear Zoe, yakeen honaa chaahiye , lekin yakeen kamaana padta hai aur wo aate aate aata hai.
Love can spring from anywhere because its powerful enough. Trust needs roots and nurturing because its fragile. Yakeen aur jazbaat. Milte hain , tab ek kaamyaab rishtaa bantaa hai.
As much as i detest BCA, i loved AsYa today because i love angst and it was right there in the 'sorry' scene. Maybe am the only one but that is that.
I will talk about Siddiqui house tomorrow. Good to have Rashid back , man. Zoe could use a friend right now. And Rashid can do something for Asad and co for once in his life!
