They could very well have interchanged roles. They (the roles) were both bimbos to the core.

I saw Sana in interviews and what not and I feel that she could have definitely pulled off the innocent Shanaya.
Alia did have the innocence but her acting was 'blah' and Sana's character was irritating...
so for me, I bared the movie for the bromance and bonding that they showed between the two male leads.
