Asad has given the exact analogy for his and Zoe's relationship. Plate and spoon. They look nothing like each-other , they do not belong to the same set , they don't have the same purpose , they are even made of different alloys/metals at times. But they work in perfection as a unit. That's what AsYa are - A unit. Zoe is the practical brain and fun in this unit. Asad is the torrid emotion and the heart in this unit. Asad is handicapped by his fundamentalist judgmental attitude while Zoe is handicapped by her impulse, fear of rejection and her vulnerability. Asad lends protection, emotion and enveloping to Zoe while she lends hope , happiness and promise to him.
Coming to the whole Tannu and AsYa epic, i am just as much frustrated with her as everyone else, but she is here for a purpose. Its Tannu's entry that evoked jealousy and possessive emotion in Zoe. Its because of Tannu that Asad came to know that Zoe might feel something for him and that she cannot see any other woman around him. Its Tannu who created the whole deportation drama and made both AsYa realize that they cannot be separated. Its Tannu who tried to electrocute Zoe , making Asad hug her with his dear life - giving a clear indication to Zoe that if anything happened to her, Asad will not be able to take it. They never said it but it was on their faces for two weeks. Its Tannu who slipped that ring into Asad's pocket and the famous engagement happened. By thriving on the negatives, Makkhanwaali has made AsYa realize that even if they don't verbalize it , they cannot live without each-other. In short, AsYa are headed towards a Nikaah because Tanveer acted as an inverted rocket launcher that triggered AsYa's relationship with escape velocity.
As for getting frustrated with Asad's Makkhanwali-ki-garlanding , what is there to get frustrated about? Seriously. Tanveer is his childhood friend , with a supposedly tragic past and a tragic life , beating all the tragedy queens of Bollywood in one go. She is seeking protection and shelter while she cries buckets of tears in every two scenes. How is Asad supposed to doubt her? And that too a man who is a jackass judgmental with 101% blind faith in his own beliefs? A man who has set beliefs and a code of norms that categorizes people. If that woman is sobbing at his feet 24x7 with a dukhyaari and bechaari act in 900 yards of clothes, Asad will do what he does both the best and the worst - heart thinking. Additional bonus from creatives is that Asad has not seen even a 0.00001 shade of Tannu's villainy.
Coming to Zoe, before we weigh the trust and distrust issues here between her and Asad, do a quick recap of their relationship. While Zoe has blind faith in Asad because he stood with her and by her through her weakest hours , Asad's faith and trust in Zoe is still in testing waters. In the past, Zoe has lied so much to Asad , hidden so many things from him, done so much without keeping him in the loop that even though he loves her with his life and accepts her denims, pizzas and cokes, he sees 'lack of honesty and integrity' as one of her negatives. So, while his best friend presents a picture of pristine honesty, Zoe's quick minded fickle fun factor appears a drawback to him. Remember his dialogue to Zoe ? Jhooth ke pairr nahiin hotte.
Point being , that Asad and Zoe, both are in their characters and reacting as per their inner personalities. For Asad , its a typical caught between the doll and the devil situation - where he is believing his judgment to be right , but the ultimate betrayal from Tanveer will not only break his fundamentalist judgmental eye - it will also show him in a very very bitter way that looks are deceptive and so are your own eyes. Its a lesson for him and a progression for his character's rigidity giving away.
However, things could go a little more dangerous for Zoe here. Once again, she is working alone and her approach is rather amateurish. Considering what a leviathan BCA is, Zoe needs to be told - " To beat the villain , you have to be the better villain."
And for all those who keep asking if Asad really loves Zoe or if Zoe's love will have the same passion and intensity as Asad, well...
Love grows, evolves, learns, blooms and then, its complete. A brick is going to be a building someday. A seed is going to be a gigantic tree one day. A sea sediment is going to be a mountain some day. An embryo is going to be a human being someday. But . Between the birth and the completion lies EVOLUTION. Hiccups in evolution do not stop the evolution. The functioning of the heart is the same. It processes love likewise - if its in the right direction, then, with very test it grows and grows rock solid and stubborn.
Just because a love story does not fit your idea of love , doesn't mean its not a love story. You are not every person and you are not everyone's love. You are not the whole world and you never will be.
