I'm Irish and i know everyone here wants to be tanned and will go to great lengths to get it, My future Sister in Law always used to comment on her skin being too dark and i was shocked to first hear it because she is so beautiful and the most wonderful warm and caring person, i told her i would have her skin type in a heartbeat, personally i find it to be so beautiful... i find all skin types beautiful but i think the more dusky the appearance the more the person becomes more appealing and attactive.Originally posted by: MrDarcyfan
I am appalled by what I have seen on this show RE the discrimination of this girl based on skin colour!! It is truly disturbing to watch! I am a lighter skinned person but personally I think the dark skin is VERY attractive! I have a cousin who is dusky and I love her colour. I also think that actresses like Bipasha, Deepika, PC and Rani are not that fair skinned?
So if BW stars are accepted then the greater society should embrace this look too! It is a joke that even today women are judged on such superficial things like colour!! I guess for girls who have to marry through family connections it is even worse coz guys don't know them personally and just judge them on looks.
Even the character "Nikhat" in the show "Qubool Hain", faced some issues due to her darker skin, but the guy in question is very into her! It is the tacky Mother that has the issues! I think Archana Taide that plays the role is beautiful!!
I hope these shows help to change these archaic attitudes. It is only in Asia that everyone wants to be fair? I live in the West and here everyone wants to be tanned!! Ironic really!
Thank you for this post! I absolutely 1 million percent agree with you. I myself have some relatives who discriminate between fair and dark skinned people and I find it absolutely disgraceful, a dark skin person should never be judged it's cruel and demeaning. I'm medium fair but I can never discriminate between fair-dark skinned because before whatever colour we are we all are humans and no one and I repeat NO ONE should be so shallow about any one's skin colour. I have had dark skinned friends and I have never discriminated between them and my friends who were fairly fair, their colour never bothered me and it shouldn't because they are my friends.
