MUMBAI: After Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja and West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, it's now the turn of Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble to face the camera in a Bollywood movie. The film, titled Meerabai Not Out, stars Mandira Bedi in the title role along with Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar and Eijaz Khan. Meerabai Not Out is produced by Pritish Nandy and will be directed by award winning Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni. The movie will go on the floors by the end of December 2006 in Mumbai and will be made under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications. Mandira's husband Raj Kaushal, who has earlier directed Anthony Kaun Hai, will be the line producer. "Anil Kumble is going to do a cameo in our movie. We hope to wrap up the movie by the end of January 2007. We have already finalised the release date, and will be releasing it before the World Cup. The film will be made under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications," says Kaushal. "Meerabai Not Out is all about cricket and the story revolves around an avid cricket fan and Mandira who plays Meerabai Not Out is the passionate cricket fan," adds Kaushal. Also interesting to note here that Mandira Bedi shot to instant fame with her Extraaa Innings association on Sony Entertainment Television's movies and events channel - Max during the last World Cup. Bedi will also be a part of next year's World Cup. |
