Come in !!! sameera said as she heard the bell ring.

Maan entered the room slowly with his eyes cast down

Oh maan !!!! what was the necessity to ring the bell you could have entered just like that.

Have you started packing ? just cant believe that the journey is gonna end. I'm just waiting to reach London. Tomorrow by this time we'll be there

Woh sameera'..

Maan can you please lend those magazines to me she said pointing out to those that were lying on the table.

maan silently gave her the magazines and also offered to help her in packing.

After a while they both ordered coffee and sat at the balcony.

Sameera I want to make a confession .

I am all ears

It's about'.us I mean our marriage'..i just'''.

Maan was finding it really difficult. It was not easy as the thought, as geet said. But still he has to do this. Otherwise he'll be destroying the lives of two.

Maan you are the one who is making simple things very complicated.

But before making any decisions please ask sameera too because you are not the only one who is involved in this.

"Maan , you need not commit yourself in a relationship which will not give you happiness

You need not marry a girl whom you do not love just because of the promise of a person , who is no more .

Commitments are meant to be from your heart.

Words of his dadi and geet were thundering in his mind.

I have to do it its now or never.

Sameera I ''. ( taking a deep breath )

i.. I dont want this marriage

silence prevailed for a while

I don't want this marriage sameera maan repeated once more.

Sameera was numb. She was too shocked to react. She was just staring t him figuring out what the matter was.

Maan''. What are you'' sameera whispered. She shocked with the sudden turn of events.

"I know it is too late and ridiculous to tell this now but Better late than never . "

"But why ''''.all of a sudden "

"There was always an argument within me , sameera . I was confused about this marriage . I myself did not know if I had to proceed with this relationship or not . I agreed for this marriage only for my late grandfather . But Sameera , I don't feel that connection with you . I am sorry to tell this but we are not meant to be together . "He paused to look at her shocked face and immediately added , " Its not that I don't like you . You are a really nice person and I like you as a friend but love is missing . You deserve some one better than me who will love you and I know that I am not that person . I know you might be hurt but imagine , if we proceed with this marriage then both of us will not be happy for the entire life time . "

"Do you love anybody else , maan " Sameera interrupted

"No , Sameera Don't think that I am calling off this marriage because I love someone . I just wanted both of us to be happy . I believe that marriage should be a single and lifetime commitment and I don't want anyone of us to be unhappy with this "

"Were you confused from the beginning ,Maan ??? " sammera interrogated

"Yes " he told unable to meet her eyes .

"You could have told me atleast before the engagement ??"

"I know I am late and I am sorry Sameera "

"I always thought that you were not interested in me but when you told that you wanted to marry me , I thought that it was just my assumption . I knew that you did not love me but I thought you were happy with this engagement ad you will love me one day ''''" She told with moist eyes .

"Do you love me , Sameera ??" he asked shocked .

"No ''''.. I don't love you but I accepted you as my life partner . I was never unhappy with this relationship . I thought that we might fall in love one day . But now , I guess that day would never come . "

"Sameera , I '''"

"You could have confronted to me before . I would not have stopped you . Did you think that just because I dress in modern styles , I don't have a mature heart ??? Did you think that I am always into my fashion world ???? I have a life maan , I have people around me and I have a heart that cares about their feelings . "

"I am sorry Sameera "

"Its okay , atleast you told me now before everything was out of our hands , before it ruined our lives "

"And Maan , you need not feel sorry for me . I wont feel bad because I am strong enough to face problems and I know that I will meet my true soul mate . "

"And yes , You need not worry about my family . I will explain to them and I promise you this broken engagement would not affect the friendship between our families ."

"Sameera , I don't know how I can thank you ''''''."

"You can ''''"

He gave a questioning look .

"By becoming my friend '''.. A friend who will enjoy mu company ." She told and extended her hand .

"So friends ???"

He shook his hands with her and pulled her into a friendly hug .

"Thank you " he whispered .

"Oh please !! Stop thanking me and go and have a nap . You can have apeaceful sleep after months . "

He smiled again .

"And yeah , can you arrange for a press conference at London !! I don't want any rumours about us henceforth "

"yes " he nodded guiltily .

She removed her ring and gave it to him .

'This does not belong to me now . Give it to the person whom you love and not like " she told .

He uttered a sorry and took the ring from her .

"Good day Maan " She told while maan left .

He literally ran back to the deck and found her standing there .

He gasped for breathe and she looked at him with expectant eyes . He pulled the ring from his pocket and showed to her .

"She understood me '''''. " he told and smiled though there was a guilt behind it .

She just beamed and began ," So , Mr.Khurana '''''''.."

"Friends ?????" he interrupted her and put his hand forward .

She looked at him and thought for a while .

"I promise I wont let this friendship break '." He added .

"Friends " she told and shook her hands with him .

The ship sailed in the waters and she stood there talking with her . This was probable the best day of his life . His heart was relieved form the burden he had been carrying around though he felt guilty and most importantly he had tasted the sweetness of friendship . He had two new friends and he knew that he cant be happy than this .

The cruise had left several unshaken memories in him . The cruise was really a miracle for him , on the sea.

Two years later

Maan's monologue

" love which becomes complete becomes life ; but love which is incomplete becomes a poem , A beautiful one "

I completed the last line of the book " My Beautiful Poem " written by Geet Handa. i smiled seeing my friend finally living her dreams. She became a writer and I am extremely happy for her.

i saw the invitation lying beside me . I opened it and saw the names inscribed on them.

Sameera found her mr. perfect and is now getting married to him within two days. The khannas were initially unhappy with our decision but soon everything came back to normal and our friendship even grew stronger than before.

Even dadima is staying at the khanna's residence helping them with marriage preparations. I know I have to be there for my friend's wedding but what else can I do. I have to complete all my work so that I can be free on her marriage. I was guilty that I had hurt sameera but the guilt was reduced when raj entered her life.

Maan's monologue ends.

He went near his window , pulling out a small case from his cupboard. He removed the ring from its case , stared at it and looked at the open sky with stars .

The cruise was truly a miracle not only in maan's life but in many other's too .

i know most of you guys willl be dissapointed with the ending but this was how i planned the story .

its a story of friendship between maan and geet that i had planned. and i hope it had come out well.
