I mean, they even let me choose two snacks instead of just one after we were done. Only later did I put 2 and 2 together and realize they just wanted me for my O-negative blood. 😆

You see even my blood is very Ninja like, sought after and high maintenance as phack 😆

Well they do say it's the inside that counts. 😆
I wish I could give blood more often, but I get so anaemic...sigh.

I believe CHARITY is one thing that you do from your heart, for somebody who you actually empathise with, for somebody you want to share their pains with.
If it's done from your heart, with love and affection, whether it is done publically / privately, on a large scale / small scale, could gather less money or resources / more, won't matter. Because it is perhaps the feelings that matter the MOST! And not materiallistic goods.

Here's an age-old question:
Should charitable deeds be done privately, without making a hue and cry about the matter, or should they be done publicly?

Those who say it should be done privately say that it is self-promotion to do it openly. There are those celebs who call media to their house and announce that they are doing charity. 😛
On the other side, people say that if you do it publicly it is for a good cause and it will give more cache for that cause and might encourage others to also support the cause.

We have put so much burden on our non-profit sector to keep their overhead low, keep the promotions minimal and low budget so much so that many important charities are unheard of; no one wants to work there because they do pay well (keeping overhead low for the snobs); it is better to donate money that years worth of time and intellectual property without the least bit of appreciation (no workers, executive or otherwise, of these charities are awarded with money or gratitude on a job well done).
If some celebrity or just an everyday person is promoting a cause, they are doing these barely afloat NGOs a favour. The non-profit sector is crying for major change but people (like me: guilty as charged) blame them if for giving less money to the cause and more to advertising firms.

Here is the tED talk that made me re-think the way I contribute to charitable causes (where I got most of the above points from).
