Thanks! To be fair, the PH and ZeeTV needs to promote their new show too. GC/KS are professionals and the storyline is such that they have to introduce the new leads (through the whole wedding planning scenario). I'm just glad that it really was a smooth transition like Mr. Sumeet Mittal said. Whether they know it or not, GC/KS promoting the show is probably the best way to maintain the current TRP audience's interest too, and I honestly cannot blame them. If I were in their shoes, I would do the same things. I don't think their intention was to play with our feeling's. We must remember that PV is a creation by the Mittal's. They're probably attached with the way they moulded their character's and their story as well. I like to compare it to a novel. An author will most likely be very attached to his/her story, even though it sells and they make money out of it. If they publish a second novel, there might be a sticker or something on the first novel that they published giving a brief synopsis of the new story. I don't see it as anything unnatural.
I'm back again, to say that I agree with what you've written here about the story transition and the PH's attachment to PV-ZMD. It seems very unfair to throw claims around that the PH and the production unit doesn't care about PV-ZMD and that they're insensitive to viewers' sentiments. To me, that seems downright silly, even if such claims are probably being made out of sadness/bitterness right now. I genuinely feel that the PH is very attached to PV-ZMD and they always will be, regardless of what happens with their new show after this transition. Their respect for their actors and the story that THEY crafted together (good, bad, and all) shows in the way that they decided to take a call and end this before it could be truly mangled beyond recognition. People are saying that the ending of PV has been ruined - well, if it had gone on for another year with random TRP gimmicks forced onto it, I'd love to see what reactions would have been in comparison!
@bold: Exactly. This isn't something new - we've seen it with marketing of novels and films sequels, spin-offs, and the like. At least they're being honest about it. If people choose to blind themselves to that fact, then there's nothing more that's left to be said.
(Edit: Speaking of "sequels" - I was just reminded of an Indian show that was promoted as being a sequel to a very popular show...later on, the makers went back on that claim and said that it was always a "semi-sequel" to the other show...Both shows had their own fan bases, by then, and they were vastly different genres by then, but the point is that the makers of the "semi-sequel" took advantage of the popularity of the first show and then later tried to justify the changes in a way that seemed comparatively manipulative to me, since the two shows weren't even linked properly after a while. The Mittals are more honest than that, to come out and say that their new show is a fresh storyline with a transition in between their first show and the new one. That takes courage.)
Aside: One more thing. The actors have continued shooting, also...What does that say about their professionalism and the rapport that they share with their production unit? To me, it says that they all know the nature of the industry - that the show must go on...and that life goes on, too. I sense a LOT of respect and love shared by all members of the PV-ZMD Team. It has been visible in many ways, in many small ways over the past 15 months.
