I agree with the headline but not the body of the topic, entirely. There are other worthy festivals as well like Sundance for example where many good independent movies are premiered. I understand Cannes is one of the oldest and most prestigious but Cannes gets all the press because of the huge red carpet turnout by Hollywood biggies. I just wish other film festivals like Toronto, London, Berlin, Sundance would get equal press. That would help independent filmmakers a lot. As it now stands, Cannes is more synonymous with haute couture than films which is fine but it does kinda blow for the independent film makers.

that's great dexter, but the topicstarter is just pissed cuz KitKat didn't get invited. If you don't believe me make a printscreen of this topic and remember to check cryssie's twitter or just this forum once KitKat gets invited.By the way...did you watch The Hunt?

Exactly! I agree with you completely, besides anyone and everyone glams up for Cannes. A lot of the European designers find this ocassion to be a perfect time to showcase some of their newer collections. I guess it's a great benefit when the celebs wearing the gowns are HW stars that are well-known by billions like Angelina Jolie or Meryl Streep. And more big budget films like the Oceans' triology, Black Swan, TGG, Pixar Animations, DisneyAnimations, etc premiere here while the other film festivals give a bigger stage to Indie films. I know Sony Pictures picked up Keri Russell starrer-Austenland for nearly $4 million after it showcased at Sundance and before no one was ready to buy the distribution rights.
