In India and among bollywood celebrities Cannes Film Festival is probably seen as the biggest film festival ever. It gets the most media coverage compared to other festivals. And so many celebrities attend and want to attend this festival.

But to be honest, I think it's completely over hyped and made out to be something which it isn't. And I really want to know what exactly these celebrities who attend achieves from Cannes?

It's not a big deal to attend cannes anymore, basically any celebrity can attend it today, for example Deepika, Saif, Malaika, Sherlyn Chopra etc. attended it.(saif, deepika, malika got no media coverage and were completely ignored by the way, let's see how it goes with sherlyn chopra)

the only two bollywood celebrities who gets attention at cannes is aishwariya and sonam but over all it's aishwariya. Sonam is hyped in India but outside she don't really get much media coverage, like in france media nor vidya or sonam got coverage.

I want to know what exactly sonam, vidya etc. achieves from attending cannes. For me it looks like a lot loss, on one hand vidya is there as judge cause of her work which is good, but she got so much flack for her apperances. On the other hadn sonam is there just cause for an endorsement deal. They used so much money on clothes, wasted days etc. I think their loss is bigger than what they gain.

with aishwariya it's a debatable topic wether she achieves something or not, at least she gets coverage in international media and gets mentioned in overseas newspapers.

But overall I really think india is hyping cannes too much. To be honest none of them really achieved much from attending the cannes film festivals.

I agree with the headline but not the body of the topic, entirely. There are other worthy festivals as well like Sundance for example where many good independent movies are premiered. I understand Cannes is one of the oldest and most prestigious but Cannes gets all the press because of the huge red carpet turnout by Hollywood biggies. I just wish other film festivals like Toronto, London, Berlin, Sundance would get equal press. That would help independent filmmakers a lot. As it now stands, Cannes is more synonymous with haute couture than films which is fine but it does kinda blow for the independent film makers.

that's great dexter, but the topicstarter is just pissed cuz KitKat didn't get invited. If you don't believe me make a printscreen of this topic and remember to check cryssie's twitter or just this forum once KitKat gets invited.

By the way...did you watch The Hunt?

Nah...I haven't really been keeping track of films for a while now. I know the actor from Casino Royale is in there. Is it good?

Exactly! I agree with you completely, besides anyone and everyone glams up for Cannes. A lot of the European designers find this ocassion to be a perfect time to showcase some of their newer collections. I guess it's a great benefit when the celebs wearing the gowns are HW stars that are well-known by billions like Angelina Jolie or Meryl Streep.

And more big budget films like the Oceans' triology, Black Swan, TGG, Pixar Animations, DisneyAnimations, etc premiere here while the other film festivals give a bigger stage to Indie films. I know Sony Pictures picked up Keri Russell starrer-Austenland for nearly $4 million after it showcased at Sundance and before no one was ready to buy the distribution rights.

Please Katrina kare to raas leela, other celebs kare to character dheela.

There's nothing to agree because this same TS would have been full of enthusiasm if cannes had invited Kat. She would have tweeted the entire week 24/7 about Kat's outfits and her angelic appearance...by the way she already does that when Kat comes infront of the press.

cryssie is being a hypocrite 🤢

But pecking, she still has the right to her opinion. And maybe her opinion isn't based on Katrina...give her the benefit of the doubt.
