Just a very brief analysis (since I have not read the EDT today, hope I am not repeating thoughts already expressed) -
Madhu's plan is something that the viewers are aware of but not RK. So he might have started to play the game according to Madhu's rules now. Will this step backfire on Madhu or will she pull back? When you attain what you want, you are ecstatic but Madhu was not. She appeared to be wavering in her resolve.
Madhu wanted a public love confession from RK and she got it. She seemed more in a quandry now that she got handed everything on a platter. "Yeh dil main tumhe saunpta hoon" - RK is entrusting her with his heart and she intends to break it. Her downcast eyes, restrained demeanor and lack of elation emphasize the guilt feelings that pervades the proposal.
I liked the symbolism of the ring shown against the backdrop of the ILU poster and the big heart decked with flowers.
RK shot all the arrows in his arsenal. What defines Madhu is not materialistic things but relationships. So, RK formed an even closer bond with Paddy today by calling her "Maa". Just like Madhu let go of all her relationships to go away with him, RK let go of all the emotions that define him (ego etc.) to say "ab sirf pyaar hai tumse".
Trishna justified her presence after the Ballu incident. Her monologue was bang on and the fact that Sultan heard each and every word was like "sone pe suhaga". It is only after hearing Trishna's words, he got into motion and took off towards the durgah (will have to see tomorrow, but at this point I am guessing it is to get an understanding of the turn of events). Was he sad and angry because of Trishna's words or because he was unable to convey his feelings to Madhu or the grand proposal from RK? He was privy to Madhu's plan and the enactment of public ILU, though in a grand RK style, was exactly what Madhu was waiting for and had confided in him.
I stand corrected on the dupatta issue - I said yesterday that Sultan prolly had the dupatta at home but he actually carried it in his car!
As to the symbolism of it flying to his face in the car, I believe it was to signify and remind him that he himself committed to friendship with Madhu. He might not be able to attain her love, but he has to maintain the relationship of friend. She might need his help and he needs to give it to her unconditionally. He can't let go because she has also promised to look after Aryan should something happen to him.
What remains to be seen now is the question posed by Trishna. Does Madhu have the strength and conviction to go through with what she has set in motion?
