Many people have already discussed the issue regarding Aarti's decision to give Aayu to Pari so what I say will probably sound the same as those others. However Wednesday's episode has left me so restless that it's consumed me at work and all I could think about is what repercussions will occur in the future for all parties involved. Yes, I know the show is ending and there's hardly any point in me stressing myself over this event, but I wanted to give it a stab and see if I could put my jumled thoughts into a coherent piece of writing.
I have serious issues with this baby giving angle the CVs brought in. When Aarti gave Aayu to Paridhi, all I could think about was "There will be some major problems between these two women in the coming future." I don't think both women had assessed what this decision of each (of Aarti deciding to give Aayu to Paridhi, and of Paridhi deciding to accept Aayu as her baby from Aarti) would mean for not just them, but their husbands, their entire family, especially for Aayu in the future.
When Paridhi ran upstairs at the thought that she basically give up the child she considered her own, I don't think she was wrong in being selfish. Paridhi is childish and selfish but she's not a bad person. She wanted to become a mother so badly she went ahead to adopt a child without talking it over with Prateik. She couldn't take care of the child and so she asked Aarti for help. Being a new mom this is natural. Eventually Paridhi will learn and grow as a mother.
Aarti saw Paridhi's pain in her eyes and she realized what Aayu means to Paridhi. It's Aarti's nature to think of others before thinking of herself and while that is a admirable trait in her. Which is why I wasn't surprised when she told Paridhi to take Aayu but I just wished things had gone differently. I had hoped that Paridhi would be kind enough to reject Aarti's offer, but she didn't. Understandable for her as well. We've seen how Paridhi is concerned first for herself more than others but at the same time her attachment to Aayu, in the short amount of time she spent with him, made her see herself as his mother and she wasn't willing to part with him. This is what I had wished Aarti would do, but I have come to terms with that so I'll just leave it at that. Even though Paridhi reluctantly agreed to Prateik's suggestion, she wasn't keen on giving up her baby.
The reason why I was so against Aarti's decision was because of what Aayu means to both her and Yash. Aayu's birth was truly a miracle and to be born, the poor baby had to go through so much. He was a fighter and why wouldn't he be with parents like Aarti and Yash?
The future I was seeing, of power battles between Aarti and Paridhi over Aayu, was in part shaped by what I have seen of other serials that have done the baby giving scenario and in part by the basic characterizations of Aarti and Paridhi. I envisioned Aarti and Paridhi arguing over almost everything regarding Aayu and in turn these arguments would create bigger problems between them and their husbands, between both Yash and Prateik, and eventually between Aayu and both sets of his parents. He would feel upset, unwanted, confused, and perhaps rebellious.
Aarti and Yash will be a big part of Aayu's life. No matter what, they have a relationship of the heart that will keep them connected. But at the same time, I think Aarti and Yash will step aside and let Prateik and Paridhi take "center stage" so to say, regarding Aayu. Aarti and Yash will help Prateik and Paradhi whenever they need them. What I basically mean is that Aarti won't drive Paridhi mad by exerting her influence and her status as biological mother as I have seen in happen in other serials. In those, the biological mother always gets the sympathy because she gave up her child and usually ends up making the adoptive mother the baddie. But Aarti isn't one of those characters. Aarti and Yash are both individuals who always put their family first. They are both mature enough to know that if they have given Aayu to Paridhi and Prateik to raise, then they cannot make them feel less or inferior by "strong-arming" themselves in matters regarding Aayu. I also think that Paridhi will become more confident as a mother because of Aarti and Yash's help along with help from Prateik and of course from little Aayu himself. She and Prateik will allow Aarti and Yash to be a huge part of Aayu's life. They may argue over some things, but I don't think there will ever be anything major that would tear the family apart. Aayu will help both sets of parents to come together to provide him a good future and good upbringing. And that's what I'm going to go with and take away from this show.
