Meet Sanchita Bhattacharya, the latest and youngest musical sensation of Kolkata today who since last year was just "the simple girl who lives next door, and studies in class IX. A girl like any other.
But now Sanchita is a "star," a little star that's trying to reach the zenith of the sky. She bagged the coveted winner's title for the Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs nation wide contest.
Sanchita has become very popular throughout the entire country through this music camp. She received lakhs and lakhs of votes for her show from all the citizens of India. This has also proved Kolkata's immense talent in music: most of the winners who participated in these types of shows like Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and Fame Gurukul are Bengalis and these include Vyjaini and Aishwarya, Debojit, Shreya, Ruprekha.
"Sanchita is a mind-blowing, outstanding singer," commented Abhijeet and added, "She has the capacity to sing in any scale. She controls the song when she sings and never gets controlled by the song".
Everybody has limits where music is concerned but Sanchita seems to have no limitation. She is the 'best' said Abhijeet. Her voice was turning even more melodious in the last few episodes of this show only because of the wonderful guidance of veteran Alka Yagnik. She guided Sanchita extremely well and always blessed her so much that it made her the best amongst the finalists.
Zee TV has signed a contract with Sanchita for three years. Bappi Lahiri has announced that the "little champ" will be the playback singer for his next film.
It is true that Sanchita was a born singer for music was in her heart ever since she saw the light of this earth for the first time. Her parents are also good singers and are proud of her. Now, Sanchita is the silver star of Kolkata, the ray of hope for all music lovers of Kolkata.

How do you feel after winning this big title of "Little champ"?
I'm very happy and excited. This will really help me in achieving the goal of my life which is playback singing.
Was music only your aim from the first or did you want to be something else before winning this competition?
No, from the first day itself I wanted to do playback singing only. My whole family is greatly involved in the field of singing and I was also very fond of it from the first.
What are the contributions of your teachers and friends in creating the "new" Sanchita?
My teachers and friends have been very helpful. They told me not to worry about school but give my full attention to music .
Was it very hard to accept this makeover?
No, it was not very hard but honestly speaking, I had some problems about the clothes. Otherwise it was ok.
Do you think that dancing along with good singing is necessary to entertain the audience?
Yes, absolutely. Not only dancing but the person performing on stage should absolutely be a whole package - singing, dancing and even acting. We were taught this by Shiamak Davar.
What was the experience with the judges and other celebrities?
It was just great. the three judges were so helpful to us. They pointed out even the slightest of mistakes which helped us improve in every way possible. And meeting celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Jackie Shroff, Lataji was like a dream come true.
How is the pressure right now?
Well, it is too much, but somehow I don't know why some people are trying to destroy my image in public by creating a fuss. I am quite confused about this.
Any message for the aspirants?
Never stop dreaming.
