As a reader, I LOVE romance, both emotional and physical. Emotional more so, but physical also has it's appeal. I like jealousy, but not so much. I feel its a little overdone. I love family relationships, and when the characters are well written, like they match the characters from the actual show. Or at least the character sketch that the writer starts off with. I also LOVE descriptions. Like of what the person does while they talk, their tone, their eyes, what they do with their hands, etc. And of course, how the other person reacts.
And as for the spaces, I think SanayakiBarun is referring to paragraphs. And I agree. When there is no gap between paragraphs it makes it a little annoying. It's a pleasure to read when a dialogue is divided. So like one person speaks, and then the second person's lines start from a new paragraph, and so on.
As a writer, I'd say twists and cliff hangers are good. =P They're evil, for sure, but they get the reader hooked. If it's something unexpected, or if you stop the story right before something big was supposed to revealed (or right after) then they wait anxiously for the next part to see what happened or how the other characters will react. Plus, creating new twists, like not repeating the same pattern is also good.
However, I'm not an experienced writer, so this is just my personal opinion. :) Hope it helps :D
