He was the screen play writer for Mani Ratnam's critically acclaimed Dil Se… is known widely for his role of Ramadhir Singh in Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur. His film Paan Singh Tomar won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 2012 while Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 1 and 2 have garnered overwhelming response world wide.
