KHURANA MANSION
I thank Babaji a million times to have showered me with his blessings and given me such an amazing family as I look down in our lawn where Dadaji's physiotherapist is helping him to walk but Dadaji adamant that he is, refuses to take anybody's help and is trying to walk by himself with the walker. Its been just sometime I returned from his room after massaging his hands and legs with homemade Ayurvedic oil which Ramukaka had taught me back in Khanna House, he had a lot of knowledge of this ancestral heritage and his family living in Nani's ashram prepares these ayurvedic medicines which helps the poor and needy. Dadaji is fast recovering and the doctor too declared at this rate he will be back on his feet very soon.
A smile crept on my face seeing Maan's photo resting on the sidetable as I walked back in our room from the adjoining terrace remembering the morning events. I was totally unaware of this naughty side of Maan, had always known him for his strict no nonsense attitude but I guess looks are deceptive.
It was an eventful morning today. While preparing breakfast in the kitchen, all my attention was back in our room. I had locked him in the bathroom in my attempt to settle scores with him but now I was repenting on the same. Finished with the preparation I instructed Nakul and Bela Di to arrange the table while I rushed back to undo the damage but as I walked out of the kitchen I stood shocked seeing Maan already seated on the table. I pinched myself hard to believe my eyes but he was actually there, how did manage to get out, his ego would never permit him to call anyone for help and by the look of the people around everything seemed normal.
He looked up at me, a devilish streak quite evident in his eyes as if warning me of something. A chill ran through me as his gaze pierced through me but putting up a brave front I walked towards the table. Yash and Arjun too walked in hassled and I could very well guess the volatile situation seeing the girls shooting daggers at all the three men. Vicky too sat there with a long face. Maan had definitely put all of them in a tight spot.
The moment I tried to serve Maan his favorite pasta he spoke, stopping me from doing so.
"Maa aaj main aap ke haath ka daaliya (porridge) khana chahta hoon." His comment shocked everybody present there and Maa immediately inquired for the reason as Maan is not quite fond of daaliya. He continued.
"Kal raat kuch zyaada hi ho gaya tha, poori raat disturb kar rahi thi." He claimed.
All questioned together KYA?
He interjected "Acidity!!...Subah bhi pareshan kar rahi thi, issliye aaj kuch light khana chahta hoon, pasta khaane ka bilkul mann nahi." He answered winking at me. Oh so this was his plan to get even with me but before I could react, Maa urged him.
"Lekin Maan Geet ne specially tumhaare liye pasta banaya hain, ab yeh kaun khayega?
"Hum hain na Maa waise bhi kal ka masaledaar khana, ab tak hazam nahi hua. Pasta will just be perfect!" Yash also made his dual meaning statement, while Vicky and Arjun seconded him but next second Vicky cried in pain. I assume Pari had kicked his foot under the table but he quickly feigned that he was truly hungry and his stomach was aching for the same. The cold war was quite distinct now as we all were on a verge of erupting.
"Yash tumhari tabiyat theek nahi thi, toh apne ghar pe rest karte...yahan aane ki kya zaroorat thi? Meera asserted sternly to which Yash made a dramatic baby face gaining sympathy from Maa who inturn ordered Meera to behave and serve Yash the pasta.
There was a winning grin plastered on all their faces, this was just too much but Annie was all silent throughout then suddenly she got up and moved towards the kitchen only to return with a glass of milk and went up to Arjun and spoke in a very sugary tone.
"Bahot acidity ho gayi hain na toh kuch lete kyun nahi, yeh pasta khane se aur badh jaayegi, yeh lo thanda doodh pee lo isse bilkul theek ho jaayegi...TUMHAARI ACIDITY..." She finished while gritting her teeth. It was a really a sight to see Annie who made Arjun gulp down a whole glass of milk in one go as even Maa conceded with Annie.
I knew Maan had deliberately demanded for daaliya as it takes time to prepare the same and then he would back out at last moment with an excuse of not troubling Maa and settle for anything else which is already prepared but what Mr MSK didn't know that Maa had indeed prepared daaliya for Dadaji today and now I will surely see to it that he has it.
Now was my chance!!! I prompted Maa to feed him daaliya so he would feel better. I too played along, that whole night he was quite restless and I too was very worried for him so he should have only daaliya for his breakfast.
In our quest to outdo each other we failed to realize that three pair of eyes were enjoying all the drama. Maan whose face had lost colour just with the thought of having daaliya and with Maa feeding him there would be no escape, but I felt bad that Maa was being troubled in all this drama but ofcourse Daadima finally intervened and asserted curtly putting an end to all the drama around.
"Aparna aap shanti se baith ke apna breakfast kijiye yeh kal raat ki Mahabharat ka Act II hain jo chal raha hain aur aap bekaar hi pareshan ho rahi hain." Maa stood flustered at the revelation while Dadaji, Dadimaa and Papa burst out laughing. Annie and Co left to their rooms while I made my way to the kitchen.
"Dekha Babaji aap ne unki dramebaazi. Samajhte kya hain khud ko, sab ke saamne mera mazaak banate hain, acchi tarah se jaanti hoon acidity toh sirf ek bahana tha woh meri baat kar rahe the, main unko raat ko pareshan kar rahi thi...main... ke wohi sab kar rahe the besharam kahin ke. Chodungi nahin unko main..." I was busy in my complaining session when suddenly his hot breath fanned my shoulders from behind and his husky voice sent a shiver down me.
"Main bhi toh yehi chahta hoon ke tum mujhe kass ke pakde rakho Geet...aise" He said hauling me to him in his firm grip, I did try to wriggle out but...
"Daaliya bahar hain, jaayiye aur khayiye, mere paas kyun aaye hain yahan kuch nahi hain..." Before I could speak further he placed his palm on my mouth holding me close. I protested to his proximity trying to escape his grip . This time I will not let him have his way out but is it even possible.
"Daaliya toh maine kha liya par phir bhi mann nahi bhara aakhir ek cheez toh reh hi gayi. Meri Meeshti ka delicious dessert!!!" And before I could comprehend the meaning of his words he just pulled me tight to him and kissed me hard. His sudden move caught me off guard and I just couldn't help but give in to his passion and finally as we parted catching up for breath. He proclaimed.
"Isse kehte hain chit bhi meri aur putt bhi bhi meri!!! Samjhi tum." Walking out smirking on his victory, opening the kitchen door that he had locked earlier which I was unaware of. Realization dawned to me that this was his reply to my challenge in the morning.
[PS: Ab aaya na utt pahaad ke neeche]
Its just been some days since I am a part of this family but it feels as if this is where I have belonged since ages. The warmth, love, nok-jhok, fun-frolic just makes life so interesting. Its still been some hours since Maan has left and I am already missing him. He hasn't called me up even once today and when I tried his cell is unreachable.
"Where are you Maan?"
"GEET..."
HANDA CONSTRUCTIONS
The atmosphere here so combustible that any moment it would burst out Veerji and Brij pacing the conference room as if their steps could control the damage. It was really hard for me to feign ignorance or put up an act of being worried. I had successfully made them believe that the person who had bought the shares of HC had very smartly tackled everything and after all attempts we still could n't find any information about the owner except that he would be attending this meeting and will be here anytime.
While they waited with baited breath while I was amused and excited to see the shock coming their way soon.
"Ek baar mujhe who mil jaaye jisne aisi jurrat ki hain toh main usse..." Before Brij could complete his so called declaration the door of the conference room flung open and Maan Singh Khurana accompanied by a lawyer and Aditya Shergill emerged. There was pin drop silence as all were trying to come in terms with the sudden shock.
Wasting no time in formalities Maan took his seat while the lawyer forwarded all the necessary documents to Daarji confirming that Maan Singh Khurana was indeed now the second highest stake holder in HC. It was a sight to watch colour had drained off from the faces of all the three Handa's who were so full of themselves but today someone had snatched the land beneath their feet and given them a fitted reply.
While Daarji was scrutinizing the documents closely Veerji couldn't control anymore and burst out.
"Dikha di na apni asaliyat (reality) hamaare kamzor waqt ka phaayda uthana chahte ho na aa gaye na apni aukaad par Khurana."
Shutting the file Maan roared " Khurana's ki aukaad naap (measure) ne ki na hi tumhaari haysiyat (status) hain na kaabiliyat (ability) Mr Rajinder Handa. Yeh business hain yahan sirf phaayda dekha jaata hain. Jiske daav-pech (skills) tum kabhi seekh nahi paaye aur mere toh khoon main hain. Khurana khandaan ki viraasat hain!!!"
A sudden feeling of pride and Deja-vu struck me as Maan's declaration echoed in the room. These same words were pronounced by Bade Papa (Ranjit Singh Khurana) on the fateful day of The Fallout. The tables had indeed turned unknowingly Maan had avenged the betrayal of his family. I passed a knowing look to Daarji, Maan's words had shaken his being indeed business was in the blood of Khurana's.
"Chup kar oye...ek toh hamaare shares dhoke se kharide, hamaari hi office main aake hume hi aankhen dikha raha hain abhi dikhata hoon tujhe..." Brij stood up from his chair to march towards Maan but Maan was too quick for him he twisted Brij's raised hand behind his back and blocked him.
Trapping the struggling Brij in his firm grip Maan announced.
"Sab se pehli baat...HC ke shares maine market se paise de ke kharide hain, dhokha dena meri fitrat (trait) nahi. Doosri baat...apne ilaake (area) mein toh kutta bhi khud ko sher samjhta hain lekin sher toh sirf ek hi hota hain aur jab sher chalta hain toh kutte bhokte hain par iska, sher par koi asar nahi hota kyun ke woh Jungle ka Raja hain aur iss Construction World ka main Raja hoon. The King!!!" Pushing him back on his chair still holding him tight and eyes boring right through Brij Maan continued.
"Ab dhyaan se sunn kutte, mera matlab hain Brij Handa yeh chair teri, yeh post teri, yeh Company bhi teri lekin marzi meri. Iss Company ka second highest stake holder hone ki wajah se koi bhi decision tu meri approval ke bina nahi le sakta. Samjha. Teri aur HC ki lagaam ab mere haath mein hain kyun ki baaki ke saare Board members bhi mere hi saath hain. Aur ab aakhri baat yeh tere ghar ka garden nahi hain office hain toh agli baar yahan tameez se pesh aana aur decorum maintain karna, mujhe indiscipline bilkul pasand nahi. Samjha." He asserted.
"TU..." Brij tried to overpower Maan but
"Awaaz neeche aur waise bhi tera time ho gaya hain. Police station jaane ka...kahin bail cancel na ho jaaye." He said with finality making his way out of the room. His demeanor demanding complete attention and awe just like Bade Papa. I concluded.
"Maan Singh Khurana ke paas itne HC itne saare shares kaise aaye hamaari company ke shares parivaarwalo ke paas hi hain toh kisne apne shares Maan ko beche hain. Kaun hain woh gaddar?" Daarji roared. It was now time to give him a reality check but before I could disclose the fact Teji entered the conference room and answered Daarji.
"Daarji shayad aap bhool rahe hain Geet ke hisse mein mere shares bhi the jo maine Geet ke naam kiye the aur mujhe abhi pata chala hain ke Papaji ke shares bhi Dev ne dhoke se apne naam karwa liye." I looked at him questioningly but he gestured me to be silent as he narrated to the Board that how Dev had taken advantage of the blind trust and transferred my shares to his name instead of some bank loan guarantee papers. All seemed to buy this story as now Dev's reality was out.
'Maan ne aaj unki pairon tale ki zamaan kheech li hain aur mera dil kehta hain ke woh unke sar pe aasmaan bhi nahi rehne dega shayad yahi sahi hain aur kahin na kahin Maan ka har vaar jaise meri Geet ki har takleef ka jawaab ho aisa lag raha hain.' My thoughts were broken as I saw dejected, humiliated and defeated threesome leaving the conference room. Maan had paralyzed them totally and I felt immense peace seeing their plight.
"Yehi bebasi (helplessness), yehi takleef (pain) hui thi mujhe jab mera sapna toota tha. Toot gaya tha apne hi parivaar ke vaar se, itna hi dard hua tha mujhe jab meri Geet ko bali chadaya tha inhone. Aaj unhe ehsaas hoga uss dard ka jab koi aap ke haath kaat de, uss takleef ka jab aap ka sapna choor choor ho jaaye, uss zillat(humiliation) ka jab hum apni hi nazar mein gir jaaye. Aaj bahot sukoon(peace) mahsoos ho raha hain mujhe Teji." I said turning to Teji waiting for my answers to which he avowed.
"Maine ek teer se do shikaar kiye Papji ek ab yeh log Dev ke peeche lag jaayenge Geet ke har aansoon ka hisaab dena hain Dev ko aur doosra abhi waqt nahi aaya hain khulkar saamne aane ka abhi hume yahin reh kar sahi waqt ka intezaar karna hain."
"Jung to ab shuru hui hain aur hume sirf jeetna hain!!!" He exclaimed
KHANNA HOUSE
"Dev tum aa gaye...kahan the tum ab tak...mera phone bhi nahi utha rahe the tum...hum kahan shift ho rahe hain...Jaldi batao na tum kuch bolte kyun nahi...main kuch pooch rahi hoon tumse?
"Suna maine chilla kyun rahi ho, behra nahi hoon main." I hated to return here this was my home some years back but now just a place to stay. After a testing and tiring day with no success I dragged myself here only to be welcomed by a series of questions by the woman supposedly my mom.
"Tumne sharab pee hain Dev? How could u, as it is we are running out of cash and you are wasting all our money."
"Yeah I am wasting money aur aap ne jo 5 star restuarant se jo parcel mangvaya tha woh kya free mein aaya tha, ek baar bhi aap ne poocha Dev tumne kuch khaya hain bhi ya nahi. No why would you aske aap ko toh sirf apne aap se pyaar hain. Beta chaahe bhookha, pyaasa raaste par dhakke khaata rahe aap ko kya. Kabhi kabhi toh mujhe doubt hota hain ke aap meri Mom hain bhi ya nahi." I just burst out on her and before she could harrow me further I continued.
"Mrs Khanna aap ko yahin rehna hain kyun ke sab pehchaan ke logon ne apni asaliyat dikha di, koi hume help karne ko taiyaar nahi hain, samjhi aap. I'm sure aap ke saare friends ne bhi mooh fer liya hoga kyun ke ab aap unke kisi kaam ki nahi rahi hain na." I concluded.
Averting my statement she inquired about taking help from Handa's.
"Tum Handa's ke paas kyun nahin gaye ek wohi hain jo hume help kar sakte hain."
"Handa's help karna ya milna toh door ki baat hain mera phone tak nahi uthaya unhone, sab ke sab matlabi (calculating) ab aadat daal dijiye iss garibi ki kuch waqt tak aise hi rehna hain ab hume." I enlightened her on our future as sudden darkness enveloped me and I could hear some faint noise of my name being called out.
KHURANA MANSION
"Geet tum yahan ho aur maine tumhe sab jagah dhoondh liya." Annie barged in my room calling out for me, she seemed really excited for something and pulling my hand she continued.
"Geet tujhe kuch bahot hi special baat batani hain jise jaan kar tum khushi se paagal ho jaaogi jaldi chal mere saath." Before I could react or say something we were in her room and she switched on the TV and the content brought an instant smile on my face.
"Kaisa laga mera surprise tujhe, yeh ek golden chance hain itne saalon se jo tu nahi kar paayi woh aaj kar sakti hain, bina kisi darr ke bas tujhe koshish karni hogi and I'm sure tu yeh kar paayegi. Come on Geet sab kuch set hain bas teri haan karne ki der hain. Tujhe kuch bhi kar ke yeh karna hi hoga by hook or crook. Promise me iss baar tu peeche nahi hategi." She concluded leaving me in a fix.
She was right I really looking forward for this but Maan?
